Saw a small blurb about this product in the February "Automobile" magazine. Claims to shoot flames 20 feet out your tailpipe using a spark plug. http://www.autoloc.com/detail.lasso?itemid=FLAME2 Seems like it would be cool. Anyone know about this? Kevin ------------------ |

Funny, i was just thinking of those today. I saw one a Woodward a couple years back. Very cool. Might do wonders for the paint however ------------------ |

I like the disclaimer at the bottom: "AutoLoc is not responsible for property damage or injuries caused by this kit." - Kcat |

This is nothing new, they did this in the 50's. using spark plugs and wiring. The plugs would ignite the unburned fuel in the exhaust. It does look cool ! |

From what I was told from a fellow flame thrower owner this product only works with carburators and then you have to lean them out so they have unburned fuel to ignite at the tailpipe. I though of trying this system with a small butane tank so as to be able to ignite flames while accelerating instead of just at deceleration with unburned fuel. Something like nitrous with button to motor instead butane with button to tail pipes with sparkplugs. HAVEN"T GOT AROUND TO THIS YET!!!! ------------------ |

In Gatlinburg, at the Shades of the Past, we saw several of them. They are crowd pleasers, for sure. pretty funny. |

Flame throwers have been around for over 50 years on "lead sleds" and other assorted hot rods. I personally have found them to be quite dangerous, childish, and they don't work too well with fuel injection anyway. JRL |

I'm going to buy this and hook it up to my frontal exhaust systems then the flames you see on my car will be real. |

They did a review and install of this product on Trucks! on TNN this past Sunday. Very cool and very easy to install. Since pure gas is running through your engine though, you have to change your oil more often, since some of it will be washed away whenever you use the flamethrower. The only thing that they said on the show, that I do not see on the website, is that it will not work on vehicles with a catalytic converter. t ------------------ Black 99 |

I am having this system put on my Kat as we speak. The flames will be comming out of my side pipes with a butane tank in the trunk. I will post pictures when finished. ------------------ |

We have several Flame Throwers at our cruisins in the summer. Yes most love it, but it is a very dangerous pasttime. Fred has caught his `66 pick up and `54 Ford on fire at least once, the Pontiac has the paint flamed a few times, watch out for the wind, the noise is deafening when they pop and scares the H*LL out of the little kids nearby....hope you have extra plastic panels when you melt the ones on the car. We ask that the flame throwers use descrection before firing them up NEVER USE THEM ON THE STREET, seen a guy cruising brice road get nailed for lighting for the crowd all the ones I know have a manual choke to not lean but flood the tailpipes with gas before hitting the ignitor |

I saw these a couple of months ago in the latest Mooneyes catalog - the perfect accessory for a boulevard cruise...or freeway rush hour, for that matter!!! But after seeing the posted photo, I am wondering if anyone know what the ignition temperature is for the rear bumper covers... Couldn't find this in the owner's manual. |

I don't think it is much of an exaggeration...I saw these demo'ed on Hot Rod TV a couple of months ago on some famous hot rodder's show circuit lead sled, and the photo looks pretty close to what they showed...except that their flames stayed fairly low to the ground. |

I have only seen them a few times and they stayed low to the ground and shot out about 5 feet, with not that much volume. I guess it all depends upon the application and conditions. Why oh Why would I doubt GaryC??? Mea Culpa. lol. |

That last pic looks like when I saw a Jet Funny Car back up to a station wagon and torch it with it's afterburners....THAT was a sight.... |
