CJ Most wonderful news. I received a Christmas card the other day with a verse that I think is appropriate to share here."In this Sacred Season, may we never forget that the simple joys of togetherness are the greatest gift of all." Enjoy this season with the special people in your life. Pamela

Thank you all for the wishes!! Brian kept telling me that it was highly unlikely that he would make it home, that he was on call full-time. I found out that my son told his brother and wife and Bob a couple of weeks ago that he would be home on the 15th. My daughter-in-law said she even told my grandkids (10 and 5 years old) that their Uncle was finally coming home (he hasn't been home since last January) but they were not to tell their grandmother!! They even kept the secret! On the way home from the cottage on Sunday, I was talking to Bob about it (being bummed he wasn't going to be home again). He was deployed right after 9/11 and didn't make it home last Christmas. So, I suggested that we jump in the car the day after Christmas and go down to NC to see him. We pulled up into the drive and there was his car....!!! I am so excited he will be with his family again for the holiday and that we can all spend time with him. I've got my fingers crossed that he doesn't get called back (which with his job is always a possibility) before Christmas. We've been Christmas shopping, will be doing baking this week (and our traditional baking day with the grandkids on the weekend) and just hanging out. As far as I'm concerned, this is what Christmas is really about!!! Larry.........I don't think he could possibly be happier to be home than I am to have him home!!! Dave.......I'm happy for you, too, that your son was able to make it home, too. Pamela.........that quote is absolutely right. Being with family is the most important thing. Kendra.....I am sure that your mother was thrilled about your surprise visit. I miss my son a lot all the time, but especially during the holidays. I hate the thought that he has spent so many holidays away from home...... even though we all know that it's the way it is in the military. It's probably harder for the parents, though. Debbie..........you're right! It IS the BEST gift I could have gotten........I've been saying for some time now that it was the ONLY thing I really wanted for Christmas and how lucky am I that I got it!! I hope that all of you have as wonderful a Christmas as I am going to have!!!

Reminds me of the time, long ago, when it was safe to hitchhike, that I hitched rides from New Hampshire to Pittsburgh Pa. to surprise my parents at Christmas when I was in the service and not enough money to take a bus. Glad he has made you a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

CJ, I too was going to miss yet ANOTHER Christmas, but good news. For the first time in over 7 years, "music playing"I'll be home for Christmas! I found a plane ticket for $144 that flies me over on Christmas Eve and I have to fly back on Christmas. It will be a surprise to my Mom. The rest of my family knows. She always hopes that I'll come home, but she's used to me saying, "not this year". Well, I had already told her that I wouldn't make it this year either BEFORE I found the ticket. I can't wait to see her eyes light up. ------------------ 2000 Black Kat "self-proclaimed" poorest Prowler owner mods: 1) ceramic pads 2) Bill's 2.1 intake with EGR bypass 3) "cracked ice" shimmers 4)48,000+ (s)miles
