Just an FYI... I received an email notice from a local friend this morning about possible virus (jdbgmgr.exe). Sure enough it was on my machine... I followed his instructions to check my system and it was there with the little teddy bear. I do have latest update with Norton and it did not catch it... Can anyone share any insight on this... Here's his instructions: TO GET RID OF IT His note said the virus was annoying, but relatively benign (whatever that means)... Any ideas or other suggestions from the more savy computer members out there.... thanks,... ------------------ |

DO NOT DELETE ANY FILE ON YOUR PC UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE IT SHOULDN'T BE THERE. RECEIVING ANY EMAIL THAT TELLS YO TO DO SO DOES NOT COUNT AS 100%. Most of the time Laddie, if you get an email telling you to do a search for a file, and if there delete it, it's usually a system file (ie. one that is needed) they are telling you to delete. Then when you reboot your system, viola' it will now not reboot because you deleted a necessary file or two. This type of email preys on most who don't know what files should be on their pc and are willing to delete anything in the name of preserving their system. If you don't have one, invest about $20-30 for a good anti-virus software package. Then, even if one of those emails were true (99.999999% aren't) you would already be protected and wouldn't need to bother with those kinds of emails. |

Thanks for the tips... Just got back from checking with my local PC guy. He said it was a hoax. The file has something to do with visual basic programming or something... In my case, he said it was OK to delete it... |
