A/C.........you're right about that....marriage is not an easy thing......and like everyone else, we've been through our ups and downs..........but we've been very fortunate to have had far more ups than downs. When my son was 21, he came to me and asked me how old I was when his Dad and I got married (he was preparing to propose to his now wife). I was hoping that question would never come. I told him I was 18 and Bob was 20, but that being so young, the odds were against us. We started dating the end of April, 1967, got engaged in July, 1967 and were married Nov. 25, 1967 (only 7 months time)!!! We've been fortunate. He told me he wanted to propose to his girlfriend (they'd been together almost 5 years) and I told him the best advice I could give him was to remember that marriage is a lot of work........daily....and the most important thing to learn was how to communicate with each other. He wanted to know why I felt it was "work". Don't you get married and live happily ever after? I told him that even though they'd been together that long, it would be very different once they were actually married. He says now......after being married 11 years, he understands what I meant!!
