Which remote car starters are good? Who should I have it install the device? Bestbuy? Circuit City? Other? I want to buy a remote car starter for my g/f's 2002 Mitsubishi Montero sport, which needs an ignition bypass installed because there is a chip in the key. ------------------ Brian K. What is the point of these?Other then the novelty of starting your car 10 feet away from it, is there a real purpose to this? Perhaps in a really cold climate to get the car warmed up but, wouldn't you need to leave it idling for 10-15 minutes? Why not just use a block heater then? Asking cause I can't think of one.

Some remote car starters have up to a 1/4 mile range. That way you can start your car in the parking lot to either warm it up or cool it down.

LOL, If I gotta walk a 1/4 mile to get to the car, it better have a minibar and a foot massager in it also.

Actually I have a ton of fun with mine at Car shows & cruise nights . You know when the people are leaning on the car touching things . Your sitting back in your lawn chair , push the button it starts and scares the heck out of them .

I put one in my wife's car. She sometimes is out at night for meetings by herself. She can start the vehicle from inside a building, the lights come on, and the doors remain locked and the interior lights come on. It is also handy in the Winter to start the car and warm it up before going out.
