Chevy auctioned it off with all proceeds going to charity. It was actually second to last produced as the last one goes to the museum. I can't remember all the rest of the details, anyone remember this bit of news?

Last Prowler went for almost 3 times that much....right Mike?

Yeah, I posted this a couple of months ago. The difference between this and the Prowler is, the Camaro WILL be back. This guy not only didn't buy the last (of this go around), he also didn't buy the last.

There are too many new or newish ones on the road and with sales of new ones lagging, they decided to kill it off for a couple of years. Watch for both the Camaro and Firebird to be back in 3-5 years. Last Camaro, indeed.....

Interesting YF...I read it in Motortrend I think, which is the LAMEST of all car magazines. (Just read their awful pansy whiny review of the '01 Prowler in their 10/01 back issue I ordered). I guess they report old news as "new"

As for your theory of reintroducing the Camaro in a few years, I agree %100. Look at how many namesakes they bring back just to sell those cars... IE: The "New" Nova, which bore no resembleance to the old one at all....just a name.

I hope automotive genius Bob Lutz brings back some respect to GM....especially thier styling department which produces some of the ugliest cars I have ever seen GM make. The Aztek and Monte Carlo actually induce nausea upon sight...

sadly enough.....look at the return of the "MIGHTY GTO"....a car that looks like everything else on the road....the GTO should have been reincarnated as something really special or left alone....

Exactly! My thought is, that at 75 feet away, you can't decide if it's a toyota, kia, or GTO...pass on it!

Too many bubble looking cars, IMO.

We all seem to be in agreement here....

Yeah, the "new" GTO, even the Holden GTO is nothing more than a Gran Prix they sell in Australia tarted up and called a GTO.

It was all Pontiac could do to refrain from slapping more plastic "speed cladding" on the sides and hoping someone will buy it...
