Every now and then we all have a day where we would have been better off if we had just stayed in bed. Yesterday was one of those days for me.

We hauled our dunebuggy out to the desert to participate in some good old fashioned desert fun: Model rocketry with the local boy scout troop, dune buggy rides, camp cooking and campfire songs.

Our pick-up truck, which just got out of the paint shop three weeks ago, now has a nice divot in the hood from a model rocket whose parachute did not open, and nosed dived into the truck from 1000 feet up.

On the first dunebuggy ride of the day, the engine siezed up when we were way out in the middle of some sand dunes and I had to rely on a good samaritan to pull us out before dark. It was a $4000 motor with only about 100 hours on it. Taking a closer look at the motor this morning I discovered that the oil filter had snapped off somewhere, causing the motor to lose all the oil.

Then on the way home on a twisty mountain road I caught a trailer rim on a roadside rock and bent it up a little ( not the first time I have done that one.)

When it was all over I was glad to be home.

well... at least it was a beautiful day to have all those bad things happen... No matter how bad it gets, remember, it can get worse a LOT easier!

Lavka, don't drive past Bob & CJ's for a few days, you probably would get hit with a runaway car lift, the way your luck has been.
