Well, apparently a few vocal people don't like some of my posts and 1 or 2 have sent anonymous email threats so I am going to resign from posting here anymore and participating.

It's been alot of fun but, when it resorts to more then name calling, well, my family has to come first.

Honestly, it's all been in jest but, apparently some don't get it and life is wayyy to short to have to deal with a few psychos (that ought to get me a few more emails, LOL!)

Take care and above all remember,....It's just a car!!!!

Yellow, reconsider. Yes, I certainly notice that you do tend to take some different positions on things than many members do, and I do disagree with you on some points. However, if these boards are to be more than a "feel good" club, different views are essential. Case in point: your comments re: the aftermarket brake system that was being discussed a few weeks back. I don't think its realistic or reasonable for every manufacturer who wants to develop aftermarket parts for these cars to go through "big dollar" road testing and quantification of data. There aren't enough Prowlers to make that kind of expenditure, and I thought that it would be discouraging to manufacturers iof they thought they would get a hostile response to their products from POA if they weren't tested under the Road & Track or Consumer Reports protocols.

But, after some consideration, I realized that you were correct to a degree, that one should not make express or implied safety or performance claims without some sort of backup. POA doesn't need to look like we all just fell off the truck, either.

Bottom line - get an unlisted number, get your mail at a PO box, but don't let anybody intimidate you into dropping out. Diffent opinions are what its all about...

If you're going to drop out anyway, then, damn it, BURN whoever is flaming or threatening you, and let the group moderator or whoever runs this thing dump them. Once its public, I can't imagine anyone trying any further intimidation.

This is ********, and really bother me as a new member...

Gee Trey -
how'd they get your email address if you don't have an
email address listed? (Kinda funny that a couple
"anonymous emails threats" are sent to a person who tries
to remain anonymous by not HAVING an email address,
too funny!)

I'm just curious how you could get such emails!... but
since you aren't going to be posting anymore, I guess I'll
never get an answer to my question. (I won't be loosing
sleep over it though...) Maybe you can take SantaClaws
with you. You can keep each other company.

I will agree with you that "it's just a car",
but someone recently put up a post saying
quote:
"I guess manners is either one of those things you are
either brought up with or if not, you simply don't get it."
(--- gee I wonder who said that on October 26, 2002 ---)

Think about that, when you and SantaClaws have a few cold
ones (I hear it's very cold at "North Pole, TX.") and recall
how YOU were the one who started the name calling BS on the
Spinning Wheels thread. Yeah, it's a shame there are
"a few psychos" out there, isn't it?

Chill out

Yellow Fever, there is no excuse for anyone sending threatening emails. I went through a similar thing last year with emails from someone who disagreed with one of my posts. The emails were hateful, threatening and said despicable things about myself, Rebecca and other family members. Those sort of cheap, anonymous messages are chickens**t and totally out of line. Also, I hate to see anyone leave the board under these circumstances.

I still disagree with some of your statements:

"It's been alot of fun but, when it resorts to more then name calling...."

I don't understand how you can have fun name calling. I should think it would be much better BEFORE it resorts to name calling.

In any event, I agree "it's just a car"

How many people do ya'll think you ran off from the board with this kind of crap. Lets try to do our best to PLAY NICE!!!

YF, Think about it before you leave the board.

Remember what your mother told you as a kid. If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say it.

WE all have a right to our opinions, but, after we have voiced it, sometimes it is best to drop it if it is going to hurt a lot of others.

I, for one, really enjoy this site, but when this kind of garbage breaks out it starts to destroy the reason for the site. Don't you think?

Again, LETS ALL PLAY NICE!!!

As far as I know, there is no such thing as an "anonymous email". Any email sent can be traced to an IP account even if it is through an "anonymous" host such as Yahoo mail. It just takes a little more work.

Email threats can be followed up on with the authorities, and they take it seriously. They can track through, IE: a Yahoo account and follow it right up to the user's computer.

People sure have large brass ones when they THINK they can be anonymous.....

As for you, Yellowfever....I imagine you are a hoot to hang out with a six-pack or two. But sometimes comments made on this board can come off wrong no matter how many smiley faces follow your comment. Please don't go away, just try a little tact in your replies....Message boards are very forgiving as a general rule, and pleasant posts are always well received.

I really thought this is the most mature board I could visit....It hope I am not wrong.....

BT, it is not only anonymous "emails" that can be traced, so can anonymous posts, or posts under numerous different names. This is a site that people visit for enjoyment, not all the negative things. Hopefully we will get back to that now.

YF, Don't leave the site just because someone offers you a dissenting opinion. You gave me a bit of a hard time on one of my threads, but I just considered that your opinion. To some extent I even agreed with what you had to say. You are entitled to your opinion, just the same as everyone else. That doesn't mean that everyone else will agree, as you've obviously now discovered.

Your opinions and feedback are welcome in my book, but a little more tact would make them less offensive.

Jeez, YF...now that I was the first to jump in to defend you, I went back and read the rest of the "Spinning Rims" post. Sure enough, you were (IMO) rude, arrogant, conceited, insulting, biased, argumentative, smart-assed, confrontational and ignorant (i.e., not much different than about 50% of your other posts). Y'know what????

WHO CARES??????????????????????????????????????????????????

If folks want to belong to a car club where all members exist in a state of blissful harmony, unfailingly courteous and respectful, with no off-the-wall opinions or
disagreements, then they all need to GO OUT AND BUY A TAURUS, AND JOIN THEIR CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hear they all get along fine, and every day is a #(&%#*ing love-in!!!!!

I bought a Prowler because they are loud and outrageous, and way outside the mainstream, just like me. I HATE clubs and organizations of every kind and description, and THIS is the reason why - people actually take them seriously. How pathetic is that, anyway??? Hell, I didn't even want to join the Auto Club!!!

What a turn-off to new members or lurkers to read this PATHETIC and EMBARASSING thread, and the juvenile, gutter-dredging Spinning Rims posts that started it.

YF, if you typically drink before posting, stop that practice immediately!!! If this is not the case, and you post sober, then, please, ignore the preceding sentence, and have a shot or two before you hit the "Send" button!!! Believe me, it won't hurt your posts a bit...

I truly hope that the moderator of this nursery school sandbox fight elects to delete both the Spinning Rims thread and this one soon - I AM SO EMBARRASSED TO BE A MEMBER RIGHT NOW, I can't even tell ya...

It's just like the &(*^)^ing PTA, for chrissakes!!!!!!

Dead End Don.... if you are THAT embarrased to "be a part of this 'club'", then leave ... and if anyone is "run off" by reading this or any thread, then they live a sheltered and hum drum life. Who needs them any way. YF ... prowl on man and have a "cold one" for me too.

DeadEndDonald - I like your literary skills and attitude, so stay aboard with us. Your right about not looking good to newbies reading the sight, so we all need to release somewhat before hitting 'submit'.

There's room for all of us,,,,,sometimes we just need to ignore or smile, then look for another post to read.

What kind of Texan are you that you would let a couple of nasty emails run you off?!?!? So they don't like your opinions, they think you're a racist and apparently they think you consider yourself God's gift to Prowlers, who gives a damn! Controversy is good, pissing off people with bad taste makes me happy, door edge guard is for door edges on used Geo Metros (not grills)! You should bear in mind that for some people on this board, their Prowler and the good will of the other people on this board is all important. You are obviously not interested in having people like you or agree with you so why are you letting them run you off? I say flame on man, and if they don't like it, well maybe they shouldn't read your posts!

Here is mine: pinstriping is as outdated as the Yugo, and graphic decal work is NOW.

Guess we can agree to disagree.

Maybe your right? But, the trend in 'what is' by those spending the money, seems now to speak differently. In my aging wisdom,,,,it seems,,,,that a temporary commitment far outweighs the permanent commitment. Commitment = says the good book, means "trust". Not all hands are created equal! Hope you are better than Dr. Ru

Well, to the dismay of a few, NO I AM NOT LEAVING!!
While I did get the emails, I was really more curious if an off-topic section thread could win the weekly prize. Has any section other then general ever won? I was also on vacation for a few days so, I couldn't reply.

Let's catch all up to speed, shall we:

GPS John: true, my email address is not visible but, I've posted it in a number of threads here. Had you read them, you would have known.

PROWLER-KEITH & GPS John: One can send anonymous emails by spoofing. One can also create ficticious IP addresses if one is fairly sharp.

Kraut: I'm not sure how telling you you have a case against the guys that sold you your car (and lied to you) is giving you a hard time but, suffice it to say, I will now take it under advisement that giving some advise is construed as giving one a hard time.

To those that posted in support and emailed in support...THANKS!

Now for the biggie: for those that thought me saying "you will see spinning rims in the next P. Diddy video" as racist.
1) Lighten up folks;
2) Mentioning where you might OBVIOUSLY see them is not a
racist remark;
3) The Yukon XL, Navigator, old Caddies, and 60's Chevy's are the cars of choice in Rap videos. You want the biggest latest chrome wheels available with the right shoes.

In trying to catch all up to speed, I have a few questions and comments:
------------------
YF: While I did get the emails

Send these emails (was it ONE or TWO? you weren't specific, and that's something I wouldn't be so "unsure" of in light of the circumstances) to someone like Dan Pena or Cliff - they can independantly research their source. I'm sure they would like the challenge.
------------------
YF: I was really more curious if an off-topic section thread could win the weekly prize. Has any section other then general ever won?

That's why YOU first put the topic under GENERAL and it was Mike K. who moved it to OFF TOPIC. No doubt you KNEW this would happen!
------------------
YF: GPS John: true, my email address is not visible but, I've posted it in a number of threads here. Had you read them, you would have known.

Gee, sorry for the oversight on my part. That's just what I want to do - research through all your previous posts looking for an email address when everyone else around here is more than willing to stand behind their words and leave open the opportunity of contact with a readily retrievable email address.
-----------------
YF: PROWLER-KEITH & GPS John: One can send anonymous emails by spoofing. One can also create ficticious IP addresses if one is fairly sharp.

Not being as internet savvy as you, I wouldn't know about this. Again, if you forward your "anonymous email(s)" containing the alledged threats to you on to someone like DanP or Cliff, this should be a REAL challenge for them now. Just imagine their satisfaction when they eventually solve this puzzle! Here's your opportunity to "Make Their Day"!
-------------------
YF: Kraut: I'm not sure how telling you you have a case against the guys that sold you your car (and lied to you) is giving you a hard time but, suffice it to say, I will now take it under advisement that giving some advise is construed as giving one a hard time.

Although addressed to Kraut, here's my opinion on the subject - posting 5 times in a thread that has 18 posts, each time basically saying the same things (yet progessively more aggressive) when Kraut has stated he's happy with the end result (several times, no less) MAY be construed as giving him a hard time. This is overlooking the other dialogues on you correcting all the other people who offered their opinions.

It should be sufficent to accept Kraut's word that you gave him a hard time, just as YOU expect people to understand the words YOU use. I doubt this is asking too much of you.
------------------
YF: To those that posted in support and emailed in support... THANKS!

I guess there are alot of determined people out here who are willing to research just where your email address lies hidden (in previous threads, as you say,) to send those emailed "letters of support". Count these people as your dear and close Friends. (Curious - did SantaClaws email you too? or how about HiHoSilver? Rumor has it they are in your neck of the woods. Just curiousity on my part. You don't have to support your words or claims to me or anyone else around here. I believe you 100% now...)
------------------
YF: Well, to the dismay of a few, NO I AM NOT LEAVING!!

Who would be dismayed? With your valuable contributions, I'm glad you're sticking around.
------------------
From your original post, originally posted in the GENERAL
Discussion Section:
YF: It's been alot of fun but, when it resorts to more then name calling, well, my family has to come first.
Honestly, it's all been in jest but, apparently some don't get it and life is wayyy to short to have to deal with a few psychos (that ought to get me a few more emails, LOL!)

When a man gives his word, (or, in this case, writes his words) I will offer the benefit of taking him at his word.
Meaning, his words are truthful. (It's an honor thing...)
But when I see a bunch of lies, and holes in his arguements, then I find I have to put up a post like this asking questions. How many people are out there using multiple screen names and carrying on conversations with themselves (and everyone else here) in the "third person"? (That's a literary term.) How many people put their families first, then say it was all in jest, and this was done because he was really more curious if an off-topic section thread could win the weekly prize. Sounds rather self serving to me. Sounds rather pitiful too, but that's MY OPINION.

YellowFever, I could care less about whether you stay or go. When you said you were going, I didn't jump on the band wagon and ask you to stay. (That's obvious.) I didn't do that because YOU are an adult. YOU can make your own decisions - and you made one, which was to leave. Now you have reversed that decision, and that's also fine with me.

I just hope you can use a little more tact, and respect the other people around here as you expect them to respect you.
If nothing else, please do this as a personal favor for me (and a whole lot of other people too, I might add). Remember what you posted about manners - in some of the previous threads. PLEASE try to fulfill these (your) words.

Peace. Chill Out. Prowl On... (Whatever!)
