Can any of POA members that live in or near Cincy give me some ideas of places to stay for a short visit there? We’re looking for a nice hotel in a nice part of town that has at least an indoor pool. We are currently looking at the Zoo and Aquarium (although I think that’s in Kentucky?) as thing to enjoy with our five and seven year old. Any insight on other attractions would be appreciated.

TIA,
WHealy

Whealey - until you mentioned the kids,,,,I was going to recommend just staying at Ed's house. I'm sure Ed and the rest of the Cincy gang will come up with the answers,,,but don't let him talk you into seeing the Retired Intrepid Museum!

Whealey, I will get back to you on that request. I need to find out who has an indoor pool. There was a Holiday Inn that had an indoor pool but they did a major renovation and I do not know if they still have it. It is in N. KY off of I-75 about 5 minutes from downtown. The aquarium is in Newport, right on the river, literally less than one minute from downtown. The zoo is about 15 minutes north of downtown (not in a very good neighborhood) so be sure to park in the zoo lot and not on the street.
Another good attraction is the Cin'ti Museum Center which houses the Natural History Museum, Cin'ti Historical Society, Omnimax theater, etc. It is in the old Union Terminal train Station and is about 3 or 4 minutes west of downtown, right off of I-75 at exit 1 G. A very neat building. http://prowleronline.no-ip.com/scrapbook/newscrapview.php?id=42 Look at my scrap book for pictures of it.
When are you coming to Cincinnati?
There are several new hotels in Covington, right across the river that probably have indoor pools. They have inside parking. If it is a clear day and not too cold and windy you might want to go to the top of the Carew Tower, the tallest building in Cincy. It is at 5th and Vine downtown, right across from Fountain Square which has a beautiful fountain and a lot of lunchtime people in the nicer weather.
If you were coming one year from now, we will be having Tall Stacks. That is the worlds largest gathering of paddle wheelers. They are going to have 17 boats this time. From Galveston, TX, St. Paul AND Minneapolis, MN, Pittsburgh, Louisville, New Orleans, Charleston, W.Va., Chatanooga AND Nashville, Moline, IL. and the local boats. That is a pretty big deal.
Send me an email and let me know what price range for a hotel and how many in a room and I will do some checking in the next few days and give you several choices.
