Can any of you familiar with down town New York now I'm not sure what part of down town NY really is so here's the question. My wife and her 2 sisters and 2 cousins flying in from Holland want to go to NY for a few days for a visit and to visit the site of the WTC. can anyone recommend any hotels that are in an area that would give them a central spot to there, and of course shopping "sigh" they would also like to go see a play a musical or what ever is going on at that time. Now remember also they are looking for something not to expensive so they have more money to shop with LOL. thks for any help herePK

PK: The Plaza or the Warrick are very nice. I actually prefer the Warrick over the Plaza. Both in Manhattan - good shopping, etc. A bit away from ground zero, but not that bad. Tami

PK, they are going to have to ride a bus or subway to go to both Ground Zero and to a play. The theater district and Times Square are centered around 42nd St. (up to about 49th, I think) and Ground Zero is all the way at the bottom of Manhattan. Tell them to take the Staten Island Ferry just to get a good view of the city. It is very cheap to ride. Central Park is around 60th St to 90 something St.

Try the Soho Grand on West Broadway. Close to downtown and easy to get to ground zero. Also lots of shopping and restaurants in the Soho area
