Unfortunately, long enough for me to see it fly up above the car in front of me, with plenty of time to look in the lane to the left and the lane to the right and in my rearview mirrow....so I could determine there was no where for me to go.....and then watch it float like a (*&%@) feather until it hit the grill and the front fender, then bounce onto the hood and up into the windshield, over the roof and then into the car in back of me. Can you believe I haven't thrown up yet???? Debbie |

yes.......but fortunately, not as bad as it could have been. I couldn't really tell this morning because the car was dusty anyway. No dents. I washed it tonight, praying that the scratch marks were just in the dust but of course, can't be that lucky. I don't know if the hood can be buffed out....it's pretty bad. I think it's almost time for a paint job. |

You are still a lucky girl....could have been serious....thru the years I have encountered different "obstacles" on the road due to the extreme amount of miles I used to drive....I have been hit by various animals, walking, running and flying....I have encountered several small pieces of furniture, had a chair cushion fly out of a pickup truck in front of me and get stuck on my windshield at 80 mph, and NO the wipers wouldn't move it either...I had to drive with my head out the window till I could slow down to reach it with my hand.....a couple of years ago I was cruising down the interstate in my wifes car(Vette) late at nite, see something flash in my lane....slammed on the brakes and swerved toward the median...IT WAS A SOFA, STILL IN THE PLASTIC....had a semi throw a tire tread at me in another Vette years ago, it hit the hood and windshield....last summer my orange Kat took a 2X4 to the nose, much the same as your situation...a truck several lengths in front of me lost a couple of wooden skids, they flew thru the air, crash and explode on the blacktop, car in front of me runs thru the wood and spits out a 2X4....the board was caught by the wind and just took out the bottom of the nose....the nose of my orange Kat also has a split about 4 inches long from an encounter with a real cat (now deceased)...stuff happens, just glad you are OK....funny how it always seems like slow motion .... |

Holy Cow, Debbie..........so sorry to hear about your car. But more importantly, you are okay!! If that had gone through your windshield, that would have been really bad. Cars can be fixed............that had to be pretty scary watching that happen and not being able to do anything about it! Glad you are alright! |

Thanks everybody...yes, I am ok and I realize I was pretty lucky. It really is amazing how many things go through your mind in a second or two. Anyway, Dan ~ great graphics.....that's pretty close to what happened, I think. But you really didn't have to bring up the deck lid, lol. It's true the cat is just a car. My car is driven and has the road rash to prove it. The hood damage is what bothers me the most so it will have to be fixed...I can't put this one off for a year! Koz ~ thanks. Debbie |

Debbie: So glad you are okay - and so sorry to hear about the scuff on the hood! I had one of those 20 foot light poles on the side of the road do almost the same thing to me (I was in the Expedition at the time). A guy driving about 90 lost control next to me and sheered it off. Nothing to do but watch it flip straight up into the air and come towards me. Luckily I had enough maneuver space to get out of the way, but just barely. I hated that feeling as I'm sure you did! Very scary. Take care and good luck with the hood! Tami |

Debbie, glad to hear you are okay! I know how scary it is to have stuff fly at you. One day a pickup in front of me lost their load of rolled carpet and padding. I was in the #1 lane so I was able to "escape" to the emergency lane and go around. The car behind me (who was tailgating) wasn't so lucky. I looked in my rearview mirror as I was coming back into the #1 lane and saw him coming back to the ground. He completely caught air, the carpet was like a ramp! Anyway - I am glad you are okay and now you can get some flames ------------------ |

WOW! I'm glad you came out of this okay. I think I would have had body fluids coming out of every orafice right then and there. I agree with Cliff - no better time for a custom paint job. Make the best out of a bad thing. |
