Look guys I am not insulting anyone or criticizing. I just want to know why so many photos when in dimmer light, are dark. I was thinking of getting a new digital camera, but they don't seem to compensate for less light. My favorite thing to do on this site is look at all the pictures of events that the POA people take. The pictures I take are all correctly lit. They may not be perfect because of the photographer at the other end of the camera, but the exposure is always good. Sometimes if the light is too dim the camera may move or the subject, but the lighting is right. I have been taking pictures since I was a kid so I know a little about a 35mm Camera, but nothing about the new kind. You that do take perfect inside pictures, is it because you know how to use the camera, or do you have a better type of camera? If there is something that those that take almost black pictures can do? I am sure they would appreciate the help as well as us that want to see what they took. I know about flash pictures, I am talking about natural light that is not sunshine. |

Digital cameras are nice but the quality indoors isn't always as good. And in my case,I'm still learning and maybe 1/2 of my pictures come out OK All photo's can be adjusted before posting to brighten. It takes a little more time but is worth it. Not all pictures look better when brighten though. Check your pictures and before you save them to see if you can improve them. |

The digital camera you buy will also determine the quality of indoor natural light pictures. Sony makes the best low-light camera out there. You just need to pick the qualities you want in your camera and buy the one that fits your needs the best ------------------ |

P-N-P, Just incase, if you are referring to the photos that were posted in the Nethercut Museum's thread, it's because we were not allow to use flashes inside due to their sensitive security camera systems. Otherwise, go with Cliff's advice. ------------------ |

There are many software programs that can help you adjust your pictures after you've taken them.........I love the one I have! |

CJ is right. You not only can adjust the brightness of the picture but the contrast, hue, tint, sharpness etc. I have several I use. The easiest thus far is Photomax Pro. Get one of these programs you won't be sorry. I even used PP to delete the rope barrier and posts around a Prowler I took a photo of. I will try and post (tomorrow night) before and after shots, that is if I still have them, so you can get an idea how powerful and helpful these programs can be. |

Howler Cat, that was exactly what I was referring to. No flash allowed so why are the pictures so dark. Does the camera not compensate for the low light? I have software to fix bad digital pictures myself. They won't show something that wasn't there though, because it was too dark. It is not like the person taking the pictures doesn't know they are too dark. Unlike normal pictures you can see them immediately after taking them so can compensate for the light. Sorry, I was just trying to help, but I am coming off like a critic. Keep the pictures coming however they are. NEVERMIND!!!! |

Thanks for the criticism...I am still learning with the camera and hopefully, I will get it right soon. No excuses. But, pictures are better than no pictures, right??? ------------------ |

P-N-P has a good question. One I have also wondered the same thing about the light settings. I guess maybe I just need to have Julie read the instructions. This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 08-27-2002 at 10:15 PM |

Larry - my guess is there would be. Sony makes the best low light digital out there and Binh has it I completely forgot to check my settings. I was too concerned with making sure the flash was off before I took a picture. A lot of my pictures came out blurry because I moved while taking the picture (typical of long exposure pictures). OH WELL, I am still learning to use my camera so maybe one day, I will have it right ------------------ |

Digital camera is the equivalent to instant coffee. It will never be as good as the old fashioned NIKON where you can play around with apperture, shutter speed etc. But it delivers pictures almost instantly-no developing required. |

Put your glasses on Ed They are the exact same picture however the top picture (the original) has a silver post in front of the car and ropes down each side which are have been removed from the bottom photo. The owner was not around to move the posts out of the way when I took the pictures. I removed them from the photo when I got home using Photomax Pro.
