I am in the process of having a new patio installed. I am not a "BBQ Man" but I want something can reliable. I know some of you prowlers have some ideas for a beginner. Hell, I might even cook for you . Your suggestions will be appreciated.

I seen a LARGE stainless steel grill at Sam's Club the other day and would I like to have it....but $1,500 for BBQ grill I might use more than my $200 one....I don't think so...but it would be nice |

Since you are putting in a new patio, if you can, I would pipe in natural gas. You won't be going to get propane or charcoal all the time, and it is just as good, but cheaper in the long run. If you can afford a stainless steel barbecue you will have a great setup. I have found that I don't need more than two burners 99% of the time, but if you entertain large crowds all the time, go for a multiple burner set up. Hope this helps. A/C, I've been using the same Weber grill for the past four plus years. We use it year round. We use it about three times a week year round. Very happy with it. Ducane (?) is another name I've heard good things about. Just make sure you pick the right color ... |

quote: Punk N Purp, Yes, I do have a ready natural gas pipe installed when the house was built. I was thinking about its location. It's right next to our patio door entrance to the house. I wish it was away from the house. Are yours have a long gas line or is it a bad idea to gas line laying around during the cook-out?

Howler Cat. I ran a flexible rubber hose from my connection at hose (end of patio) to the grill (aboiut 12'). I put a valve on the house connection and ran the hose along the concrete & under the flower bed to grill. Looks OK. And, I agreee with Punk N Purp, natural gas is the way to go... ------------------ |

I use a Charcole/wood fired smoker grill, I have seen these with a gas burner in them also. They work great as the heat is in one chamber and the food is in the other. Mine is 4 feet long and I have cooked food for 2 to 40 people and nothing beats a slow cooked smoked porterhouse. |

I have a large Ducane BBQ it has the back rotissiore with a large smoke chip tray. I have cooked and smoked a 15 lb turkey, another times 2 huge roasts, like Bob said nothing better than slow cooked and smoked steaks or anything else you want to cook. They make them in natural gas and propane, it cost me 1400.00 Canuck bucks would be approx. 950.00 US There slogin is "Buy your Last BBQ First" Best one in my books and all stainless and by the way lifetime warranty PK |

Fixumm, There's no way that I will feed my fellow POA a 12 hour cold burger. You'll have to come to SoCal and I'll cook a feast for ya!!!. I have decided to go with the Weber Genesis Gold C grill. For me, I like to learn how to walk before I could run. Gold Series will be best for me and will upgrade later. Maybe an infra-red grill...Due to 3 puppies in the backyard, I've also decided with LP instead of natural gas. Just incase if they're curious and patio is too big for a 12 foot gas hose. thanks guys....
