Spotted on Interstate I-75 in the northern Detroit suburbs: a Pontiac Aztek with a vanity license plate that reads:

UGLYCAR

I considered getting NO SUV for the Prowler... What do you all think of that one?

UGLYCAR on an Aztek is CLASSIC!

I am concerned about the thought process that would allow a person to buy an Aztec? More importantly, what kind of gene pool would create that type of person?

Ouch! No pulling punches with this crowd!

I have a slight confession, but I make it here knowing now that I was young, foolish and jealous as all get-out:

My first impression of the 1999 Purple Kat was, "That's a really ugly back end."

I know - I'm a blasphemer.

Again, having grown older and wiser, I now see that the Prowler is a classic work of art, technology and pure fun.

Sorry, some of us are late bloomers!

Kevin - We learn as we go.............

I once owned two Ford Pintos,,,,,,,but I sold them for a Ford dealer, to earn a living while attending college. I must have sold 300 of them in two years, and nearly put the local VW bug dealer out of business. I laugh now thinking about it, but just recently seen that the Bonduarant Driving School here uses the 1600cc Pinto engine still in their mini F1 cars at their track.

I thought the same thing - why would someone buy one these? So, last year I rented one for two days when I was out of town and nobody knew me.

At least they drove nice and were versitle with a built in cooler, sliding stoarage tray, etc. But I could NEVER get over the looks.

Someone send a lifeguard, my daughter is drowning in the gene pool!!! Wait, I forgot that the pool is to shallow to drown in!

The day they came out she said "Dad that is the coolest THING! It is so ugly,I want one." Took 2 years to convince here that it was to ugly to own.

It really is a shame that the outside is so bad because inside it has a lot of nice features. Not a bad driver either.

From the scary thought department:

GM put the man who designed the Aztec in charge of the new next generation Vette. I love Vettes and I am scared.

Dodge had the man who designed the Honda S2000 design the new 2003 Viper. Take a look at the new Viper form the side and the resemblance, at least to a lot of people, is striking.

Concentrating on the positive....at least they have sense enough to know that they own an Ugly Car!!

The Aztec is a running joke with Marty and I.

Saturday evening we met a new Prowler owner and he pulled into the UDF lot and I did also. While talking in the lot, a yellow Aztec drove thru and I commented that Mike should buy his wife one of those. She said she wouldn't even ride in that car, much less drive it.
He is still in hot water since he went to buy her a new car and instead came home with an Orange Prowler for himself. he bought the car at Kerry Dodge in Milford two weeks ago today, just before I went out there to look at it.
