Thought I would post this for those who might be interested. One of my buddies took delivery of his new 03' Cobra last week. I am also a Mustang fan and was very interested in taking a ride in it. 1st off the car drives very well. Yes it is fast, but dosent feel as fast as it is. He hit 500 miles on Thurs and had the car dynoed.... 374 rwhp! all stock! Thats is very impressive. He wanted to race my Cobra (which has over 400rwhp)last night, but I told him I would only take out the big gun if he could take the Vette... well we didnt go crazy but we did go at it a little. It was pretty close... but my Vette won all but one. My Vette has run 12.62 at 112. There are a couple small mods he has planned to take the car to 400+rwhp. For $35k you cant beat the value! I want one.....

Frank,

And they look better in person than in the pictures. Had a 98 drop top that I loved. Seriously thinking about getting one..... It is a serious car for the $$$$$, there is a red one here in Dayton that they will take 38K for and it's a convertible......

So he was able to hang with you and even beat you once ? That's pretty good for a stock car.

These cars will certainly be worth $$$$ in the future - Best mustang EVER built in my opinion - has the handling, comfort and power.

On Stangnet.com there has been lots of talk from owners. Most is favorable. There have been some to claim dynoing as high as 382rwhp and some as low as 350rwhp. There are also a couple owners that have already had some problems. One car couldnt be made to track stright no matter the alignment. Another had very weak brakes... but these are isolated items. There is one that already has a highflow X-pipe w/cats and a cat-back that has dynoed 396rwhp... he didnt dyno it stock. If you go to stangnet.com then forums then to the SVT forum... you will find all the info you want.

Frank,

Went to look at the 03' Cobra (none in stock and most on the way in already sold!) and came away with a Lightning.
Ford does seem to have a very good handle on super charging.

Very impressive dyno #'s. Ford claims 390 hp...hummm maybe they have decided to underrate this a little. How did it handle compared to your (modified) Cobra? What I have read so far says that it is nose heavy but handles very neutral.

Congrats on the Lightning! I ran a new one that was modded in my Vette and could not pull him! They are fast for such a big truck!
The new Cobra feels heavy as compared to mine. It still feels good, but very different then my solid rear 94'. I would say mine feels flater. But mine is also lowered. Overall it felt very solid, but does not handle as well as the Vette. It actually felt much slower then my Vette too.... but it wasnt that far back. I would say a few more miles and he might be right with me.... one mod and he's by me! Plus I think I out drove him too... so who knows. We are going to hit the track if it ever stops raining. He wants a crack at my Cobra... to bad for him. The Cobra has gone 12.18 at 116.8 on street tires.... He's toast. All in all I would say if I had the money I would have already found a way to get one!
