Subject: Fwd: Bread ~ I never knew this!

When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever
wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or
softness.

Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days
a week?

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a
different color twist tie. They are:
Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Green
Thursday - Red
Friday - White
Saturday - Yellow

So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie - not
white which is Friday's (almost a week old)!

The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red -
White - Yellow, Monday thru Saturday. Very easy to remember.

I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store
and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the one
with the plastic clips have different colors.

You learn something new everyday!!! Enjoy fresh bread when you
buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping. Pass this
information onto friends so they could be informed also. Wow, I can't believe
I'm actually sending some useful hints instead of junk email.....

Dilemma in aisle 10:

While cruising down the bakery aisle this evening searching for a loaf of bread I discovered they had four different color twist ties on the same shelf. If only I could remember the colors. Looks like I’m going to need to keep a cheat sheet in my wallet. Needless to say I came home loafless.

yep... knew this.... (Dad was a bread route salesman... tough life)...

The reason for the different colors was so that they (the stockers/salesmen) could remove 2-day old from the shelf... i.e. on Wednesday, 'pull' all remaining MOnday bread...

fyi

If ya got 3 colors (or more) on the shelf, then ya got a routeman not doing his job... unless the bread industry has changed or not everyone does it the way "Rainbo" bread did.

and the reason no "wed" color... wednesday was 'cake' day... make all the cakes, rolls (like "Honey Buns'), etc that day
