I thought I would let you see what a car show is like in a small desert town. There are probably a lot of similarities between a small town's show and a cities show. But the differences are: there is no admission to the show in a small town and almost all of the cars are driven to the show.

The Show

I posted this scrapbook because it may be of interest to Prowler owners. However, because it is not about Prowlers, I will delete the scrapbook after one month.

Thanks GenoTex!

When I was younger, I lived in cities. I remember going to shows at the Anaheim Convention Center. Some were fine, but others were misbilled and only had a handful of custom cars, the bulk of the displays were manufacturer displays with cars you could see at a dealer. All the shows were expensive to go to.

I remember outstanding car shows at the Armory in Rockford, Ill. They were pricey, but truly worth it.

I remember going to a show in Madison, Wis. just to see George Barris's Golden Sahara. It was supposed to have a pearlescent paint made from fish scales. It's tires were made from a special compound that allowed lights inside the wheels to light up the tires. Its paint was pretty, although the car itself was a little much for my simple tastes. They never did light up the tires. A couple of buddies and myself waited after the show for them to move the car in hopes they would light up the tires. While they pushed the car to the truck we kept chanting "Light up the tires" Of course they ignored us. Then they started the car to load it into the truck. That V8 must have had only 6 pistons, because it put out enough smoke to kill all the mosquitoes from Dane to Portage county!!

One of my best memories wasn't at a car show, but a museum. I think it was called Cars of the Stars and was owned by Big Daddy Roth. Inside, besides the movie cars were all of his creations. When leaving, I thought I saw a familiar looking face. It was the Rat Fink himself!! It was a slow day at the museum, so I managed to talk with him for several hours!

Looks like a great show, leave it in. This site is also about car appreciation.
