OK I'll be the first to show my ignorance. I know it refers to Paxton's line of superchargers and 1000 is the smallest number, they have a NOVI 2000, etc.

I assume the designation has to do with the amount of power that be generated out of that particular unit.

That's about all I can come up with without going to Paxton's site and trying to read there!!

Marty

PS - Dan - I have never won a POA shirt so I'll take it if you win another one!

I thought it was November 1, 1000 and was going to guess it was Mopar Dave's birthday but he was from the Dominican Republic and wanted to play major league baseball so he lied about the date, like the rest of the guys do.

Larry/Ed - you guys are slipping. It took you guys way too long to get this thread off topic!! At least you didn't let it slip through the cracks totally!!

I'd still like to know what NOVI 1000 means; just so I can add that to my hoard of information I may never use again.

You guys forgot about the ancient story of the forgotten 1000's son of the Chinese emperor Novi. It was he who prophesied in the 3rd century AD how men with Prowler’s would one day rule the world. (o, and their women).

Okay, this was not meant to be deep folks!!

I made this banner for Paxton and Bob said that the "Novi 1000" would not be understood. I told him it would but then I figured I would post here and see how many knew what it represented.

The posts went south and right away I knew Bob was right. So I changed the phrase "Novi 1000" to "Supercharged Kits".

That was all .. Nothing Deep!!

I saw this other post that began to get deep with the Novi 1000 phrase.

LOL Dan - you were right the first time. I think everyone here knows what a Novi 1000 is but we were trying to figure out what the "Novi" was - we all know that it is a Paxton Supercharger

Tell Bob to let you put it back

Hi, Diana here from Paxton.
The real story behind the NOVI 1000 name.
Back in the early days the Granatelli's had a turbo race engine dubbed as the NOVI engine. I can't remember what each letter meant, but I'm sure Andy Granatelli can remember. So, a few years ago the Granatelli's were ready to introduce a new supercharger, wanted a name that had history, and NOVI was born. The 1000 and 2000 relate to max. cfm output of each respective supercharger.
Sidenote: Joe Granatelli tells me that Novi, MI was named after their famed engine. So there you have it!

Thanks Diana - now if we can track down Andy Granatelli we can have the whole history and it will not be lost...

Thank you very much
