Jay Harris came by the house today with his first production model of his NEWLY DEVELOPED MUFFLER installed on his Yeller Cat!!! DRAMATIC SOUND is an understatement. You won't believe this kind of sound can be generated by a little ole V-6 !!! An enticing low rumble at idle is just a prelude to what happens upon acceleration. Jay says it is a direct replacement for the stock muffler. Nothing else to buy, even uses existing clamps. The construction of this seamless stainless steel muffler involves a high tech internal baffle system along with unique ceramic beads. Back pressure is also significantly reduced. Jay says if I divulge any more proprietary information that he will have to shoot me !!! I'm sure Jay will respond shortly with all pertinent information regarding price and availability. This will DEFINITELY be another HOME RUN for the SHIMMER MAN.------------------ Ted & Marji Mathieu Painted Bumpers~~Silver Pin Striping around Midline and Grill Edges~~Cracked Ice Shimmers~~Ceramic Brakes~~ Blue Dot Tail Lights~~Silver Head Rest Covers~~Struts, Tie Rod Ends & Brake Lines Painted Silver to Match Control Arms~~Mud Flaps~~LOGO Caps~~Serious Tach~~ This message has been edited by KRU-ZNN on 03-17-2002 at 09:56 PM

Finally after almost 2 years, I am pleased to announce our SSS-2002 (Sweet, Smooth & SASSY) Stainless Steel Prowler Muffler! Specifications… ALL components, internal and external, are hand crafted from 100% 304 Stainless Steel. Muffler body is 1 piece extruded 304 Stainless Steel… not a welded band. Muffler body is 6 ½” wide… 36” long… plus the inlet - outlet tubing length and weighs only 18 lbs… OEM weighs 16 lbs. Features “metric” size welded Dual inlets and Dual outlets for an exact fit. Features a unique 5” inlet equalizing chamber and a 5” outlet equalizer chamber… H / X-pipe concept Features dual 26” long straight through perforated tubes with liners of space age woven ceramic acoustic blanket Custom designed (not universal) built exclusively for the Prowler… a direct “bolt-on” replacement… exact fit WITHOUT any welding or cutting… a do-it-yourself Cat owners dream. Utilizes original muffler clamps, tail pipes and rubber hangers… no extra parts, accessories, brackets, etc. required. ONLY tool needed… 15mm wrench or deep socket Time to install… less than 1 hour This muffler was specifically designed to introduce a Hot Rod sound to the Prowler and to eliminate the jet thrust (hissing) sound the OEM system produced without the “Raunchy” sound of straight pipes. The SSS-2002 was designed from the external dimension of the original Prowler muffler as well as my personal performance, fit and finish requirements. Mr. Lou Burger of Stainless Specialties was contracted to design and manufacture the product… he is an industry leader in Stainless Hot Rod exhaust systems since 1982. He and his team have produced an unbelievable Stainless muffler that has exceeded all my desires. It fit perfectly, the first proto type installed in less than an hour and that included lots of picture taking delays as well. The sound and performance are simply unbelievable… as close to a V8 as anything thing you have ever heard. I think this sound is so distinctive it will be come the Prowler Sound of the future. As you can easily identify a Harley-Davidson or a Flowmaster equipped Mustang 5.0 by their unique sound, I think a SSS equipped Prowler can be easily identified too. Lou achieved this by using a unique and massive 5” input equalizing chamber (H / X-pipe concept) to mix and equalized the opposing banks of cylinders into one. This was fed into 2 separate and isolated (26” long) straight thru perforated tubes wrapped with a space age woven ceramic acoustic material. Next these 2 separate outlets are mixed / equalized again in another 5” chamber before exiting to the individual exhaust pipes. Whatever it is, the fore - aft internal H / X-pipes equalizers… the long 26” straight thru perforated tubes (longest I’ve seen)… a combination of all of these… this muffler is the best thing ever for the sound of the Prowler. Additionally, @ highway speed there is no annoying resonating or offensive sound vibrations, in fact you or your passenger will not even notice a change… until you accelerate, then WOW! With all of these attributes you can see why this muffler quickly became knows as “Sweet, Smooth & SASSY”. Regarding performance, there have been no dyno tests yet, but as soon as I get some extra products built up, then I will submit one for testing. As for a seat of the pants (non-scientific) comparison, I personally feel there is a significant increase, especially from the mid to upper RPM levels. As these are hand crafted, the initial production quantities will be smaller, thus I can only offer this to the Florida Prowler Owners INITIALLY, plus 3 outsiders that are familiar with this project. I WILL BE PLEASE TO TAKE RESERVATIONS for FUTURE PRODUCT from ALL CAT OWNERS... FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. If you wish to install this SSS muffler to your Cat, please let me know ASAP. Pricing will be finalized later this week with a target price of $399 DELIVERED via UPS. In closing… remember when you installed your first glass pack muffler on your Mom’s station wagon… the excitement? Well in case you don’t, it was very, very exciting… just like now. I also remember how excited I was the first time I drove a Prowler… that is the same excitement I had this weekend when driving a Cat with this SSS muffler… WOW, all over again! Any questions… just call 800 669 3540 for answers or to reserve the product. Shipping will begin in approximately 10 days. Sincerely, Jay ------------------

SSS Prowler Muffler Update...40 orders already received... THANK YOU! There are only 8 units in the initial production schedule and have decided to use a lottery system to be fair to all concerned for the first 7 units... the 8th one is reserved for Laddie as he is performing some rear wheel Dyno Testing. There are 4 conditions you must meet to get one of the first 7 production units (if selected) as follows... 1. Be willing to purchase the unit @ the advertised price. 2. Have the ability to install the product within 3-4 days of receipt. 3. Be willing to post directly to the Prowleronline website your installation experiences... likes, dislikes, easy, hard, as advertised, etc... your installation suggestions. 4. Be willing to post your honest and personal opinion of the product's Sound Quality (too loud, not loud enough, almost a V8 or V10 sound, whatever), etc... Performance enhancements (does your acceleration or engine feel stronger), etc... Overall Product Appeal (you are excited all over again when driving your Cat), etc... Your personal comments including any remarks comparing the SSS muffler to the muffler system being removed, if other than OEM. It is respectfully requested that your post be made within 24 hours of the installation. Upon receipt of the initial shipment, I will be contacting the 7 lottery winners. If for any reason you cannot meet the above conditions, please let me know at that time so I can choose an alternate tester. Your honest comments are sincerely solicited and will be used to influence future production. I am confident the SSS muffler is an excellent and EXCITING product in every way, therefore I am submitting it to the ultimate test... the Discriminating Cat Owner. THANKING YOU in advance, Jay ------------------

I'm interested Jay, but since I live up here in Maine, I haven't even taken the car out of storage yet. We are supposed to get some more snow later this week. I will definitely contact you later in the spring. Thanks for your efforts - and keep us posted on what Laddie finds out.------------------ SPCL-T

Kru-znn-Jay Maybe the Harris muffler produces the purfect Prowler sound?! Did you mention if factory exhaust tip resonators had been removed? Have you heard the muffler with and without the resonators? I am currently running (puffing) throught two '18 glass packs w/o resonators and I am Not happy with the blatty sound. I purchased a used Borla from another POA member and it should be here this week. I will go ahead with the Borla install and look forward to hearing and comparing the Harris muffler (maybe at the Mile High this June)with the Borla. I sure hope I'm happy with the Borla..getting the exact right exhaust sound is getting to be Very expensive. Jack and Chromer

Just a note regarding the Yeller Cat and the first testing of the SSS Muffler. The Cat is pure stock, even has the front bumpers on it. However, there are 2 exhaust system changes that may or may not be significant regarding the quality of the sound. 1. The exhaust tip baffles are removed. I did this almost 2 years ago, purely for cosmetic reasons and never noticed any signifiant sound difference... loudness or otherwise. 2. I wrapped both catalytic convertors with Thermo-Tec Exhaust Insulating Wrap. This was done to reduce some under hood temperature and a benefit / byproduct of this wrapping is that the exhaust temperature may be hotter, thus increasing the exhaust gas velocity and scavenging effect. I don't think either of these will have any signifiant effect on the sound quality, but the 8 other Cat owners will make that judgement, hopefully late next week. The Lottery is still open, picking up 2 more players yesterday increasing the total to 42 players for one of the 7 testers positions. I will be posting a picture comparison of the SSS and OEM units both installed and uninstalled later. Additionally, I am working on the installation instructions, which I will post as an example of how easy this really is to install. Again, there are NO modifications to the original exhaust components and NO welding required. More later... please feel free to call me anytime @ 800 669 3540. THANKS, Jay
