i think it was WILDCAT who said it is on the bottom of the car and you may have to take the car off of the display to see it. Someone will correct me if that is not right.

Yes, it is on the bottom of the car and you will have to remove it in order to see it!

Are all of the 1/18 purple American Muscle Cats misspelled, or just a short run of them?

This is what you are looking for:

The word Chrystler is located on the bottom, passenger side.

Thanks CJ. Anyone know if all the cars in the manufacturing run were misspelled or just some? Is it possible to purchase a model that looks like that one in the same box that has the correct spelling?

Al I bought one a few years ago and after looking at the Chrysler with a magnifing glass you can see the last few letters where scraped off and and then echted in again. CJ is that the box it came in I didn't keep the box mine came in unfortuneatly, but I know it wasn't like that one. I have never seen another one like this and I'm always looking for one anywhere I go..

PK, so I guess you're telling me that there was a recall and an attempt was made to correct the spelling. I see them on E-Bay now ranging fronm $25 to $125. One is listed as unopened so who knows? Thanks for the info.

I found out about it from a mother at the cruise in that told me her son had a misprint car. I had to have one, only to find out that I had 2 already at home.

THEY MUST BE REMOVED TO SEE THE MISPRINT. the one that list on e bay NEVER REMOVED is lying or does not know for sure if it was a misprint.

I have met several toy dealers at swap meets that do not know about the misprints so buyer beware, if you see the box CJ has photo of it just could be and you could be pleasently surprised if you happen to purchase.

Wildcat, I e-mailed that guy on e-bay and he said you can tell from the serial no. on the boxs. They were the early numbers. He has not opened the box, HE SAYS. However I have one and I think I am about to receive three more from a friend.
