As many of you know we lost a very dear friend on Fri.. Phill Schirico was a very close friend and if not for this wonderful group of people(POA) we would never have met. Phill lost his battle with Cancer on Friday afternoon January 4, 2002. His wife Debbie and family at his side. Phill was an avid car collector, but found his '99 Purple Prowler as his favorite. Phill confided in me that his wish would be to have Prowlers cruise at his funeral. Of all his cars, Phill only kept the Prowler. I know that Debbie will continue to drive it with a lot of pride. Debbie has asked that I let everyone know of the family plans. I have contacted a lot of the immediate area Prowlers and everyone is finding time in their hearts to attend the funeral driving their Prowlers. Following are the times and places. Sunday Jan. 6 4:00pm-6:00pm Viewing and memorium. 6:00pm-8:00pm Rosary and memorium Both of these will be at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park 7405 W. Northwest Hwy Dallas, Tx The Funeral will be Monday Jan.7th 12:00 Noon St. Thomas Aquinas Church 6306 Kenwood Ave. (Mockingbird & Abrams area) Dallas, Tx. Debbie & Phill wish that flowers not be sent, but instead I am arranging a Fund at the Baylor Health Care Foundation in Phill's name. I will have more details as the business week starts. This is where Phill was a volunteer for all the years following his 6 bypass surgery. ------------------ This message has been edited by PaulR on 01-06-2002 at 10:49 AM |

This was part of an e-mail Debbie sent me last night. She also wanted to THANK everyone online for love, thoughts and prayers all year long. 01/05/2002 Dear Family and Friends, Phill really fought a tough battle. He last spoke and joked with us on Thursday, December 27th. He passed so peacefully on Friday, January 4th. For those of you who really knew Phill, if he had to choose a day, four has always been his lucky number; so we know he went to heaven. We were given nine months and feel we had been well prepared, his spirit will always be with us. He was swept into the arms of our heavenly Father on First Friday and it is known that anyone who dies on First Friday goes to heaven. We are so grateful to the Doctors and Nurses that assisted us through this long torturous journey. We are so grateful that he is out of pain and he had a very peaceful death, so he can "Rest in Peace." He will be missed by so many who love him. Obituary in the Dallas Morning News and the Ft. Worth Star Telegram: Phillip Louis Schirico, 56, who was always a giving, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, went to his Father's arms of Friday, January 4, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Debbie Fuselier Schirico, son Daren Phillip Schirico and Daughter-in-law Gina Hearne Schirico, daughter Kim Marie Schirico Catalano and son-in-law Robb David Catalano, and three grandchildren Ashley Michele Schirico, Kyle David and Kaden Phillip Catalano of Ft. Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Emmanuel Falcaro and sister-in-law Anita of Tarpon Springs, Florida; his in-laws Louella and J. David Fuselier, his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Linda and Jerome Alesi, Martha and Mark LeFevre, and Madeline and Fernando Flores, all of whom live in Lafayette, Louisiana, and brother in law David Fuselier of New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Phillip was born in Manhattan on November 3, 1945, and raised in the Bronx, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents Maria Dolores Paglia Schirico and Dominick Gabriel Schirico. He served in the US. Air Force and fought in the Viet Nam conflict. Phill gave generously of himself and his love to so many people, touching numerous lives. His motivation and inspiration will be missed by anyone that knew him. He worked in the hardwood lumber business for over 30 years and was a mentor to many. He and his wife own hearing aid offices in Dallas. After surviving open heart surgery seven years ago, Phill served on a weekly basis as a volunteer at Baylor Hospital through the Caring Hearts Program and Cardiac Rehabilitation. His hobbies included billiards, collecting and restoring old cars. He was a member of the Over the Hill Gang Club and the Prowler Owners Association. An avid Yankee fan, Phill will be residing near his childhood idol Mickey Mantle at Sparkman Hillcrest. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Phillip Schirico may be made to Baylor Health Care Foundation 3600 Gaston #100 Dallas, Texas 75246. Visitation will be Sunday, January 6.2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest, followed by Prayer Vigil and Rosary led by Rev. Msgr. Larry Pichard. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 7, 2002, at 12:00 noon, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rev. Msgr. Larry Pichard celebrant assisted by Deacon Ken Reisor. The prayer by Saint Augustine can be very helpful in creating a prayer focus on behalf of grieving people: God of our Life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; Flood our path with light, turn our eyes to where the skies are full of promise; tune our hearts to brave music; May we all grow in peace to love and serve the Lord. Love and Blessings, Debbie

We just got back from Phill's visitation/prayer vigil. I must say that it was very sad but beautiful. Near the end people went up to talk about their experiences having Phill in their lives. I'm sure all of you know by now, either by first hand experience or you've heard, what a truely wonderful man this person was. I have never in my entire life met anyone that was so loving, caring, funny, and absolutely positive about everything!! I would greatly encourage everyone that possibly can to please participate in the funeral tomorrow. It will make Debbie (his wife) proud, along with Phill as he smiles down upon us. I would also like to thank Paul for the beautiful Eulogy that he gave at the prayer vigil. Paul, I couldn't have said it better! Let me first say THANK YOU! To all those who have prayed for Phill & Debbie and for those of you that showed up today for a beautiful send off. We had 13 Prowlers and 9 of Phill's Over The Hill Gang Hot Rod buddies. I know in my heart that Phill was watching over us as we cruised to the cemetary. The Funeral Director came to me and said " This was the most beautiful funeral I have ever been a part of. The friendship and love shown by all his friends and family were UNBELEIVABLE!" It was 55-60 degrees and sunny, just as Phill would have had it. Again, THANK YOU all for your kindness, generosity and spiritual help that will go on for a long long time. May God be with you all. ------------------ |
