HI everboby can you please help with a problem how do you remove the ( idon't know the right words) heat shield the black felt or whatever it is from the inside of the hood with out damaging it. Those plastic buttons how do they come off without hurting the felt or whatever that is. thanks for the help LIVIN XL BILL S------------------ ceramic brakes mud flaps flaking chrome rim's

Bill, That piece is called the "hood insulator" and as far as removal of the fastener, there's a special tool that is forked at one end and is used to pry it off. Those retainers that are stubborn coming out should be cut off and new ones reinstall. A minimal amount of pressure should only be used with the tool to avoid damaging the insulator.This message has been edited by MidlifeProwler on 11-04-2001 at 08:49 PM

THANK'S MIDLIFE when you say cut off with a pair of side cutters i assume. does anybody notice a noise or heat problem ie paint bubble with this removed. there is a cat underneath it right???? ( back up now) side cutters to the side that you can see of the insulator and button of the plug. thanks again LIVIN XL BILL S------------------ ceramic brakes mud flaps flaking chrome rim's ( REPLACED FINALLY)
