A friend of mine gave me a 2002 calendar that is entitled DREAM CARS and I think it came from Big Lots. It has a picture of a yellow Corvette on the cover and March 2002 is a 99 Yellow Prowler. There is also a picture of a PT Cruiser and a 97 Red Viper GTS for January. It is a pretty cheap quality calendar but only cost $ 1. I thought any of you people who got stuck with the Yellow Prowlers before the Red became available, might be interested. lol ------------------ |

Maybe we got "stuck" as you put it with yellow, Ed. I tend to think of it has having better taste in colors than those of you that actually bought red by choice. At least we don't substitute a motorcycle at POA "get togethers". ------------------ |

Larry - The Honda Goldwing "WING DING" convention is based in Phoenix. They held it here in Louisville seven or eight years ago. (Don't think they are coming back) If you thought 58 Prowlers and 660 PT Cruisers got some looks at Woodward, you should see the faces of people when 8000 Goldwings parade by. Of course, their amazement is at how many of the motorcycles are actually four wheelers because the people riding them have lost their sense of balance and have added training wheels!! I didn't think I was being grumpy, Ed. I prefer Prowler color-defensive. Of course, maybe it takes an old grump to recognize an old grump, huh Ed? ------------------ |

Marty -Yeah, that is the same week the H-D bikers are holding their convention here. 10,000 H-D bikers and 8,000 GoldWingers together? I'll bet on the H-D bikers "cracking" afew noses! |

AC you know it's those Goldwing guys that really start things! (wearing capes and things) LOL not the HD guys in their leather and chains PK |

the biggest difference is that the Wings will drive there, and the HD boys will tow them or not make it there. There are no high mileage Harleys, they break down too often to get a lot of miles. We won't even get into colors of bikes, why start trouble? ------------------ |

Boy ED thats some pretty strong statements NO high mileage HD'S!!! Out here in Canada where the MEN are MEN and the Sheep are nervous no one I know trailer's their rides. Lots of high milers out in my neck of the woods. But then even the other's get lots of miles on them to. Happy cruisin ED PK |

PK, around here they only ride them about 2 blocks to the bar and then pose with them. That is only on nice week-ends, too. My oldest son bought new Harleys three years in a row and two of them were towed within the first two weeks that he owned them. He had a Dyna Wide Glide and a Road King after starting out on a Sportster. They all tow them to Sturgis and to Fla for Bike Week. No one ever takes a long ride around here. I have to agree with you that out West people do think different than around here. Plus you have a lot more wide open spaces and higher speed limits. Here it is a status symbol to own a Harley. ------------------ |

ED we have those Starbucks HD rider's out here to and also all the other riders to. They crack me up with all the latest fashons I've seen them ride up in tie shirts and running shoe's then pull out the dayton's, leathers and every thing then get all dolled up and check in their mirror's to see if they look tough and cool before they go in for a Soya Latte or steamed milk LOL PK |

Spend a few bucks more and get a Honda, that way you can actually ride it instead of looking at it. ------------------ |

Alley Cat, the Wing Ding is going to be in Fort Wayne, IND. from July 2 to 5th. I'll probably be the only one there driving a Prowler, RED of course. lol. It is the 25th Anniversary. ------------------ |

Ed - I called the Wing Ding meeting planner yesterday to try to verify dayes/location. They haven't returned my cll yet. Thanks - now I can update our company records. One question for you - why do you drive a Honda to POA events and Prowler to Honda events?? I am sure Alley Cat has figured that out already!! Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Marty - That is an easy one to figure out. Ed is the President of the local chapter of the WORN OUT INTREPID OWNERS OF NORTH AMERICA.........His local Cincy chapter has 7 members. To belong, you must have a worn-out, smoking Intrepid with over 100,000 miles, atleast one 'bald' tire, muffler wired up underneath, exposed body rust, heater core leaking, fluids dropping, cracked windshield, and last, atleast two different colored replaced doors or fenders attached(aka Woodward Edition). His group meets whenever one of the members has attained 30,000 miles since their last oil change, so that all of them can be a part of the needed work - ala pit crew. So how does this relate to your question? As the self-appointed sitting president of the club, Ed has taken an oath to be diversified in all 'events' that he participates in - meaning, NOT fitting into the flow of the NORMAL. Marty, your observations have been correct as Ed has rode his GoldWing to Prowler events and driven his Prowler(big red machine) to Honda events. I would say from the above, that Ed has been quite successful in his actions. He is soon scheduled to attend the National W/O Intrepid Club seminar in New Mexico, where he and Sandy have already rented for use there, a 1959 BMW Isetta. The Beat Goes On! |

Big Foot, all true, so what's your point!! Marty, go to www.gwrra.org. I check in to see if there is any change in helmet laws in any of the states we might be travelling through. I went to the Wing Ding in This message has been edited by ed monahan on 11-06-2001 at 02:04 PM |

Ed - thanks for the link. The phone # listed is the same one I called. Our company producerd the trade show for WING DING in 1993 when it was here in Louisville. Unless something has changed, it was not really good $$$ for us - too much like a swap meet instead of a comercial trade show where exhibitors spend some money - kinda like the difference between vendors at a local custom car show selling licence plates and consumer things and the SEMA show where companies go all out to showcase their products. From the standpoint of attending, I can see where it would be fun to get together with a bunch of other riders and like you stated, you can probably find some good deals on merchandise. And Fort Wayne is close for you anyway!! Marty ------------------ |

Ed - Point? Second paragraph, end of first sentence: NOT fitting into the flow of the NORMAL.
