Reuters / October 18, 2001

DETROIT -- The Chrysler unit of DaimlerChrysler AG said on Thursday it
was cutting October production by 14,700 vehicles in response to slowing
sales to rental car agencies.

A Chrysler spokesman said the company will idle its car plant in Sterling
Heights, Michigan, for two weeks, and its car plant in Brampton, Ontario in
Canada for one week. The two plants employ about 6,000 workers.

Rental car companies have cut back on orders since the Sept. 11 attacks,
as air travel fell and demand for rental cars at airports declined.

Chrysler had already scheduled a production cut of 26,000 vehicles for the
month after a 28 percent decline in sales during September. The 14,700
cuts are in addition to those reductions. DaimlerChrysler has said its
turnaround plan targets for Chrysler were "at risk" because of the
economic fallout from the Sept. 11 attacks.

Sounds good to me Bill. Hope DC can tread water till then.
I'm sure they will, and will be a leaner and stronger company when they get back on track. Hope they make LOTS of Hot Rod parts for the cop car.

I'll bet that is where all the left over Prowler parts are going, back into the junk parts bin. Send that to the Atlanta paper.
