Hot topic on Phoenix talk radio the past few days:

The City of Phoenix pays police officers $20 - $35 per hour to ride bikes and drive Ford Vics around the airport all day, to keep people from temporarily parking at curbside at the terminals,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yet they pay $7 per hour for the security enforcement people inside the terminal, who are generally under educated, high turnover, and lack any real security enforcement training. What is wrong with this picture??? Should be the other way around, ya THINK? I'm sure air fares would go up some, but I want to fly to get there and BACK!

Not sure about your picture!
But I think it was the Cops and Fireman blown up in the building trying to help! (not worth any amount to me) It was not the under paid watching tv scanners.
But you are right, about the airport security! They had a good example on the news last night. CNN lined a cookie tin with lead and placed a fake pistol indside. It was sent through an x-ray machine!(policy is to open all items not penetrated by rays) Security had to call a supervisor to figure out what to do. Of course the boss is only paid marginally above the line checker. His brilliant remark, was to let it go, can't you see it is a cookie tin.

Alley Cat, I have to agree with you. The kicker is that I NEVER make it thru the scanner on the first try. I have a stent in my heart and I don't know if that what triggers it or the extra keys I keep in my wallet but I always get "hand checked". The other HUGE gap in the security is the fact that they have low lifes working cleaning the planes, etc. They do no criminal or background checks. Bin Laden could very easily have had someone place the knives on the plane FOR the hijackers. The sad part is that after the USS Cole was blown up, the US did nothing about it. At about that same time Clinton knew exactly where Bin Laden was hiding and they did not eliminate him. What a tragedy.

Wednesday's political cartoon showed the airport security gate and the security guard is asking an older woman, " Do you want fries with that---I mean, may I inspect your carry-on, ma'm?" It was by Jim Borgman and I know he is syndicated to about 250 papers and he also illustrates "ZITS" the cartoon.

Ed - maybe someday they will get a clue?

Was at airport yesterday, and the Phx police followed me around the terminals while driving there. Imagine, thinking I'm the strange one to keep an eye on.

I was wondering why you weren't posting anything on here. How did you shake them? Or how long did they hold you if you couldn't lose them? lol

Three clockwise circuits around terminals #1, 2, 3 @ 20mph and bobbing in and out, lost them. They were trained in Ohio, I think!
