Does anyone think about the 9000+ Prowler Owners that are not registered on this board? Also, it seems like only a small number registered post regularly or at all.

Do you think they have as much fun with their CATS as most of us do?

Are we as the vocal minority the bulk of the people that modify their cars? There are even a lot of people on this board here keeping their cars original.

Having been a carnut my entire life I can truthfully say that of the 40+ cars I have owned since high school, none of the others have even come close to being such a blast!!

Just wondering what others thought.

Happy Prowling

As far as the other owners not being registered here, they may not be computer literate. Posting, that's everybody's choice, there is a lot of information here even if you don't participate. Do I ever think about it? Nope, it's their loss. I have been collecting cars for over 30 years and I try to keep my cars original, but I have had made some cosmetic changes to the Cat.

Marty,

I think the other owners have fun & experience the same excitement as we do with the Prowler. Every time I meet another owner for the first time, it seems they are having almost as much fun as me... Everyone I've met in this area, across the US & Canada have been just terrific people. The special friendships & camaraderie come when you finally meet some of these owners in person or at some event...

I think over half the Prowlers have mods (whether they're registered here or not). When you consider mods being anything including another exhaust system, straight pipes, removing bumpers, paint, pin stripes, K&N filters, braces, headrest covers, shimmers, performance, etc...

Not sure why people don't register. Here in Louisiana (LA., MS., AL., Fl.), I have 25 owners on my email list (sometimes it may be a girl friend, spouse or secretary's email) & only four are registered on this site... I think many of them browse & look for information. And, their are some that have no internet access period...

Many folks (including Prowler owners), think this internet stuff is childish...

And, many times we prove them correct....

Marty, I've talked to 5 people locally that have cats and turned them on to the POA and only 1 posted and just a few times at that. I cant explain it. Maybe they're not as addicted as we are. Not being here is their loss. I know of no other place that so much info can be shared about our car.
The Cats a blast, but I've enjoyed all my cars and bikes equally. My problem is not knowing when to stop in the quest for speed. For me, speed is addictive.

Too add to Laddie's dead on comments, I have owned Antique Cars, Muscle Cars, Motorcycles, Hot Rods and 4X4's. I have had more enjoyment from the the Prowler than any or all of them. But it is not just the car. For me and I assume for the other more active members of the POA it is the wonderful people that we have meet and the friendships made.
There is a bond here that I never experienced before. I already can't wait until the next gathering we will be able to attend.

I have to agree with just about everything posted so far. There is one other possibility, I think. Some people just are not "joiners", they are not the talkative type ordo not have any interest in what other people have to say about this subject. They have their car and are extremely happy with it and why do they need other people to enjoy it. When I first got the Prowler I never dreamed I would be on the computer everyday or that I would drive 1500 miles to meet people I did not know and the only thing we had in common was that we both bought the same type of car. Of course, you know that changed. I am not a joiner usually. I like to do things on my own or with my own friends. Now all of you are my friends, so I like doing things with you. Seriously, this situation was inconceivable to me 2 1/2 years ago. I am glad I was wrong and "saw the light". And some people may be afraid to ask a question because they think they will be ridiculed or look foolish. Hard to believe, I know. They might not realize we only jump on each other's case if we know that person pretty well, except in a few cases in the past.

The internet superhighway is the means to communication, purchasing, and information for the next 20 plus years. Those lacking the ambition, intelligence, and initiative to react to it, will be left far behind. That may sound cold, but reality isn't always fair to all.

For those Prowler owners opting to stay outside of the world wide web, or just peeking in and not participating in its great potential, its their loss and the rest of us should move forward. Extending a hand doesn't always bring positive results to those who don't care or can't be told anything. JMO

Unless they have no feeling for cars and are storing the Kat as investment, they gotta be having fun. A lot of folks are just a little shy. Whenever you post something, you have no idea who will read it or what they will think, but that's part of the excitement. Lurking Prowler owners out there, lets hear from you

Just got back from weekend away from a computer. It is nice to read everyone's replies. The reasons that lead to my original post were that after four months of owning our Prowler we have only seen one other on the streets in Louisville but have had numerous "sightings" by friends and family. Rebecca & I had so much fun meeting many of the people on this site at Woodward. It would nice to share some of the fun with other Prowler owners locally.

But like others have replied - we can have a blast with our car and look forward to getting together with other POA folks in the future. I will continue to enjoy being part of the POA family and reading about everbody's experiences on prowleronline.com

Happy Prowling

Marty, this evening a Mulholland crossed our path while waiting at a traffic light. We followed them and they pulled into a parking lot and we talked for awhile. He said he has visited this site and promises to register. They are extremely nice people, Jeff and Kathy Asman. He was told at the dealer to contact me and to avoid Sasquatch. It is good that DC is taking an active interest. lol. He wants to get involved in some local things and he told me that he heard 8 Prowlers were at Montgomery Inn Boathouse. I guess it is possbible that there is another large group who are not aware of our existence if we are not aware of their group. I will try to get some info about that other group and attempt to contact them. It will be nice to have a Mulholland at some of the events.

Ed - The one other Prowler we saw (yellow) did not too interested in geting together, but we told them about the site and gave them our phone number. I guess all we can do is keep getting the word out. Let us know if you OHio folks plan another cruise/get together. I wish we go to the cruise in MD/VA/PA but I have work a convention tha weekend. Remind me to tell you about my "smoking" Prowler. It was not funny.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I have been a member for several months and posted my first entry a couple of days ago. My wife and I are in the process of equipping ourselves to really start having more fun with our Prowler. We have a silver 2000 she bought me on Christmas Eve 1999. At the time we lived in Kansas City and could only use it when the weather cooperated. Last Dec. we moved to Naples FL. and the cat now has some miles on it. We are going to the "Cruisin the Coast" event in Miss. Last Friday we bought a tow truck, and are trying to decide what type of trailer to put it on. The chooses are an open or enclosed trailer. Since I love to show off the cat, open seems to be the chose. Should I be concerned about someone screwing around with it at hotels and other times I am not there with it? Am I the only one who worries about my baby when it is not in my sight? I have owned a lot of cars in my life, but this one seems to own me. Need Help!!!!
Thanks Ken

Ken - welcome to POA. You have joined a lot ot others who "have it bad". All you have to do to graduate from Prowler Rookie to Prowler Enthuiest to Prowler Junkie is keep on posting. As you enter more posts/replies you will be automatically upgraded. As far as trailers go, there are people here that use both kinds. I believe Larry Mayes (Wildcat) and Al Becker have enclosed trailers and DavidN brought an open trailer to Woodward Dredam Cruise. They can answer better on pros and cons. Rebecca & I choose to drive ours (ours is a daily driver anyway, so miles are not an issue)

Hi Ken.

Sent you an email on trailers. There are two main differences and/or considerations 1) price 2) towing.

I have a different twist!
I was with the Prowlerclub, then it went belly (right after I paid my dues). That was the club at the time and that info was given me by the dealer.
I had no idea about Prowleronline, until DC Black Tee.
Soooooo, what I guess I'm saying, is alot of people do not know Of Prowleronline's existence. That seems to come with cruise's and rendezvous, which you rarely see advertised. Seems the license plate bracket with the online logo or windsheild banner is the main publication.
Just the opinion of a newcomer!

I agree that cruises and random encounters seem to be the way a lot of people find out about POA. I just wish I saw more Prowlers locally so I could send them to prowleronline.com.

DaveB - I'm really glad you found out about us at the Woodward event. Glad to have you and Ken Carter aboard the POA website. It has been the mission of most of us to get the word out about our excellent website, but I'll agree its a tough sell to make people find us. Sometimes it takes me several emails or contacts to get a new found owner to take a look at us. Those interested in cruising events (listed in the EVENTS section) and Prowler upgrades in appearance or performance, are usually 'hooked' when they get here. May both of you feel free to ask any questions or add your input to any ongoing discussion forumn post. Help us get the word out, and NO dues or fees to pay!!

saw my 7th or so cruising Prowler here in LA the other day... chased him down too and told him about the club and his response was "I don't have the time or desire"... oh well. The unique thing was... he had a red 2000 that was a DC replacement for a red 99 that had "front end problems", I'm assuming it was one of the 19 with frame problems?

This is a follow up to my last post on this thread. I called Rick P. at the dealership today and asked him about the 8 Prowlers at the Boathouse and who told him about it. He stated he saw them himself. They were pulling out as he was driving past the Restaurant and that it was about a year ago. I have no idea who this large group of Prowlers belong to. I hope we can find them and invite to join us in our frivolity.

Ed - Sorry to read you did not get the Woodward. I was looking forward to using it to tailgate this Fall . I already have a black CAT so I won't be needing your red one since Louisville colors are red and black. If the Cinti bunch ever plans a cruise keep us in mind !!
