Laddie Roussel suggested this contest.
Guess how many Prowlers were produced in the 2001 Model year. To give you a little help I will tell you that in model year 1999, they produced 3900 cats plus 21 that were not for sale. Keep in mind they started that production run early since 1998 model year did not exist.
In Model year 2000 they produced 2724 cats for sale plus 22 that were not for sale.
What is the TOTAL, for sale and not for sale, of Prowlers made for the 2001 model year. That is both Plymouth and Chrysler.
The winner gets 3 die cast cats in various colors.
Contest closes at Friday Midnight EDT.
My guess is 3158.

Okay - I have given this a lot of thought. I was hoping to see the July production numbers before I put my guess in.

Considering that Chrysler has put out more colors for the '01 model than any other year - starting with the Black Tie and ending with the Chrysler Silver. Which brings up another factor. There are Oranges and Silvers as Plymouths and Chryslers for the '01 model year.

Another consideration to take into account is when does the model year end? I am going to hazard a guess as September - though I don't think that will be correct.

*** edit out *** Through June 30th - There have been 3,022 '01 Prowlers made. If you factor in July, August and September that would bring the number to somewhere aroun 3,800. So that will be my guess - 3,800. ***** edit out ***

EDIT - Now that I know that the model year ends in July I want to change my estimate to 3316. It is still before midnight! Can I do that?

Based upon known past production and guessing they will produce at the same rate, I'd say 3301 by the end of August will have been produced for 2001.

The production year is already over, I do believe. The plant shut down determines when the new production year starts and I think the shut down is occuring now and will re-open soon. I could be off a week or two.
The July figure was for sales, not production. Laddies is holding up production figures until after midnight tonight so that you can't add them all up or we all would have had the same estimate.

Okay - I edited my post above but I wanted to be above board on this... I did not know when the model year ended (as I stated originally and made a guess as to when it ended) so now that I know it ends with July I want to know if I can revise my guess to 3316?

Cliff, you can change it, however, Laddie did NOT say it ended July 1st. It ends with the beginning of the plant shut down, I think. You can't change it again. Give us the number, Laddie.

Thanks Ed - I counted for all of July. Their press release said they made 14 a day, so I multiplied the number of working days by 14.
