Can anybody tell me why? The 429 that Ford produced was intended for NASCAR racing and was dropped in a Torino and Mustang. Because ford was getting slapped around by the Mopar boys and their Hemi's, so they figured if they put a race car engine in their Muscle car, they'll get some more respect and outsell the competition in the muscle car arena. Otherwise, the NASCAR based engine then couldn't be just for the races only. Registered: SEP 2000	posted 07-26-2001 06:27 PM If the question was why the o-rings instead of head gaskets, it's because they seal better. the o-rings are usually from copper wire and fit into grooves cut into the block or head.
