Can anyone tell me if they are having a problem with their exhaust pipes rusting? I thought that these pipes were ss and would not rust and i do mean rust. not talking about the chrome tips but the pipe itself. The car has been stored in heated shop all winter.

what do you have surface rust Bill? Maybe they had salt spray on them before you put the cat to sleep.

Bill, the exhausts are stainless steel/with aluminized coating.

Bill, when we were in Hawaii I saw a yellow rental cat that had really a lot of rust on the exhaust just before the tips. I was shocked at how bad it looked.

Certain types of Stainless Steel will rust, but it has to be exposed to some form of salt. I don't think I've ever seen SS rust w/out salt. If you can reach it, just take a brillo pad (scotch brite) to it. If not, have fun at the dealership.

Actually, only surgical grade SS will not rust when exposed to even mild acidity in the water it is exposed to, think salt air, acid rain, water in the streets, our BODY'S! This is why we have to have surgical implant grade SS when someone break's a bone etc, or it RUSTS!
