Funny cartoon. About an hour ago I was on my way home when a woman in a van decided she really didn't want to take the exit she was on and just came back over to the one remaining lane. I was next to her on the motorcycle. I blew the horn and she still didn't see me but heard me. She was on the phone and slowed down to about 25 miles and hour. When I got next to her she just shrugged, like, O well, no big deal. I was about ready to kill her since she almost killed me. I think they should be outlawed while driving, but that is just my opinion. |

Funny, but not so funny. I, for one, wish that all states would outlaw cell phone usage while you are driving. If you have to talk, pull over and park! I witnessed an accident last year. I was stopped at a light in a left turn lane. A woman, who was on her cell phone, made a right turn around the corner and because she was not paying attention, promptly rear-ended the woman in front of her. The traffic was clearly stopped going the other way. She had her cell phone in one hand and was gesturing with the other. She had neither hand on the wheel! When she hit the woman, she was actually next to me. Her window was down and she was still talking on the phone!! I told her that maybe if she wasn't on the phone, she wouldn't have hit her. I also gave the other woman my name and phone number as a witness if she needed it. I'm sorry, I don't believe that you can drive and also pay attention to what is going on around you. I have seen too many accidents involving people on cell phones. Unless it is an emergency, how important can it be that you can't pull over or wait to make the call? ------------------ |

Ed, like you, I ride a bike. I started riding in 65 when bikes were more of a novelty. Now with all of them on the road, people dont take notice any more-just another bike. What they forget is that we have no air bags, side door railing and seat belts to protect us. I still ride fast, but look farther ahead than I used to. Dont you hate it when you're in the right or left side of a lane to avoid the oil in the middle of the road and a car pulls up next to you thinking there's a lane there? ------------------ |

Seems that legislation is supposed to replace common sense which it can't, and frankly I think we are being legislated to death. Extended conversation and driving are incompatible and dangerous. Should we seek legislation, lets make gossip illegal and 94% of cell phone use on the road would be eliminated. ------------------ |

For the last 3 or 4 years the cell phone and driving has been a problem for me. A day or two before the TSW Event I bought a headset for the cell phone, what a difference. I feel a lot safer. When I see someone on a cellphone I give them the benefit of the doubt. |
