Yea, the Fed cut 1/2 point and that was factored into the market. A 3/4 point cut would probably have gotten the markets going again. The worst is not over yet! I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the NASDAQ will bottom out at 1650 and the DOW at 8500.

In April/May of the last 5 years tech stocks have gotten slaughtered. Octobers are no picnic either. Its dangerous to extrapolate but I see setting year long lows on the Nasdaq and Dow over the next two months. Selling puts on CSCO at $15 in May, 2001 or August, 01 to collect a little more premium isn't exactly a terrible idea. This is not investment advice.

I cashed out of most of my stock three weeks ago when it went up fast - glad I did, doubled my investment - and is now back down. I got lucky once.

Mike - you think will bottom at 8500? Scary thought...
May be time to buy HomeDepot - they will be selling all those new ropes for hanging!

Like I said....year long lows. The hour glass is 1/2 empty and more sand is yet to fall.

Mike,

I dig that song. My portfolio looks pretty sad compared to the end of 1999. I was doin' OOOOOOOOOO so well. Bummer. But that's ok, I can wait. I kept my shares, just gotta wait it out.

If you hold GOOD companies (CSCO, GE, SUNW, TYC) whose shares have plummeted to more reasonable valuations then sell out of the money puts on these same stocks. Time period: 6-9 months but try to avoid October for a strike date on tech stocks). You will take in premium income and the worst case scenario is that you'll lower your average cost. Dont do this with . com stocks or start-ups.
