The previous posts are in Events and I brought it back to the top. Please post on that thread instead of this one to keep it all together. If that is okay with you all.

Rough plans for Sunday 7/01/01 drive out of Peoria:
Head out to "Field of Dreams" in Iowa, then
head west on Rt.20 in Iowa to Sioux City.
Approximately 500 miles, and with a 2 hour
stop-over at Field of dreams, we should be
at the hotel with plenty of daylight left to
clean up the Prowlers. (Leaving at 8am, we
should be able to make Sioux City by 7pm)

Monday 7/02/01 from Sioux City to Deadwood, a possible
route would be to Murdo, SD (2 hour stop at the museum),
Badlands Nat'l Park (drive through w/ 1 extra hour)
into Wall, SD (Wall Drug w/ an extra hour for sightseeing)
then into Deadwood SD. Approximately 500 miles. Leave at
8am, we should be in Deadwood by 8pm.

--- From the "For What It's Worth Dept" ---
When I went on the Death Valley Cruise, I purchased a
Nat'l Parks Pass for $50. This allows entry into all the
parks for a full year at no additional charge. I would
suggest to anyone considering going to more than one
Park in a given year that this can present a good savings
through the year. Mt. Rushmore is on the list, as is
Yellowstone. For an example of the savings, I went to
Zion and Bryce in Utah after Death Valley. Both parks
have a $20.00 entry fee. Death Valley was $8. So for
this trip, parks fees were $48. I believe Yellowstone is
$20/car. Last fall, Grand Canyon was $20/car... Soooo,
if you plan to visit some Parks along the way and through
the year, consider buying a Pass for the entire year. The
money saved could fill a couple extra tankfuls of gas to
enjoy IN these Parks.

Lastly, I am planning on continuing West after Deadwood
onto Yellowstone for a couple days, then north to Glacier
Nat'l Park in northern Montana. I will be taking a northern
route back the following week. If anyone is interested in
staying at Yellowstone after Deadwood - get your
reservations made ASAP !!! It looks like they only have
a few rooms left at the park on the weekend we will be
passing through. Height of Summer I guess!
