Patrick was interviewed Friday night by the Lawton Constitution for an article appearing Sunday, March 11, entitled "Still Cruisin" referencing the Texas Speed Week event at TMS and the event from October when 13 cats pulled up to our door. Access to the paper will be available online at www.lawton-constitution.com in Front Page Archives for 3-11-01. I'll try to get online access to page two (they included it when everyone came up in October at our request). We are very pleased with the article and the many references to the various owners who contributed soooo much. The computer screen in the photograph displays Larry Mayes custom cat. Patrick was showing the reporter, Kevin Shutt, the die-cast replica of Larry's car that he received in the mail the day before, so he pulled up Larry's scrapbook. Another picture on page 2 shows Patrick holding the yellow car that Jay Harris sent him (he had so many cars to choose from, but the photographer thought yellow would photo best) and he is wearing the Yeller Cat custom t-shirt, also from Jay. The reporter referenced Jay's generosity when Jay found out the original shirt was too big, he had two other shirts specially made that would fit Patrick. Adjacent to the monitor, we propped up two framed t-shirts he received in October.
In case page 2 is unobtainble online, let me quote something from that page. Right after Paul is quoted as saying "We do anything we can to make his life better, he just happens to love the cars that God has blessed us with the ability to own" and subsequent references to the gifts Patrick has received, Kevin wrote this:
"It is not just the toys Patrick relishes. He speaks fondly of a Tinker airman who meets with the Fosters whenever they make a trip to the city for Patrick's hospital checkups.
The self proclaimed 'poorest Prowler owner,' J.P. Roberts, often cruises the city with Patrick riding shotgun. They even made a trip to Stillwater and back, to visit Patrick's brother who attends OSU.
'People at OSU were waving and giving us a thumbs up,' Patrick said. 'We were in J.P.'s black Prowler and we had Will Smith's Men in Black blaring on the stereo.'
When queried about how many 'chicks' the two pick up cruising, Patrick said there's not enough room in the car for girls."
Thanks to all of you again and again and again. There is not enough room here to mention everyone's name because there have been so many, but YOU KNOW who you are. I can't help but get a tad weepy when I think about everything all of you have done and how you have touched Patrick's life. Our family is looking forward to seeing those who came up in October, and keenly anticipate meeting in person those who have posted notes, made phone calls, sent cards and/or gifts, or just include Patrick in their prayers.

The Foster Family

I'm glad to hear Patrick got his diecast. That is a great story, it is good the media also has remembered Patrick and his Prowler friends.

I would appreciate it if you could send me 2 copies the front page of the paper. I will gladly pay for the paper and shipping.

Jim & Patrick,

At work now, able to reply. Jim, as of now, it won't let us access page 2. I'm anxious to read it. I guess I'll have to wait till this weekend. As Patrick as my good luck charm, I hope I win those tires. The poorest Prowler owner SURE could use them.

I spoke with Dennis Lang of the Constitution earlier today, he is having his staff add page two to the front page archive for 3-11. He told me it should be available by late Thursday.

For those of you who would like to read the entire text of the article, it may be found at www.lawton-constitution.com/prowler.htm. Or you can go to www.lawton-constitution.com and select 'STILL CRUISIN' under menu on left side of the webpage. It is all text, the picture is in the front page archive of 3-11. The pic on the 2nd page of the paper has been omitted. Unfortunatly, although the article itself was well done, there were a few misquotes.
