If any of you, like me can't get access to the family PC because, Honey is on it, and want to get connected wirelessly with that notebook PC you just bought so Honey won't be bothered, I have the wireless networking solution for you. I must have read hundreds of forum posts about all the bad Linksys, D-Link, etc. wireless solutions and spent I know 30 or so hours trying to get a D-link wireless access point and notebook PC card to communicate on my home system. I have a Compaq desktop PC hooked to a simple ethernet hub and a Cisco DSL Modem/Router connected to the hub also. A company called SMC (www.smc.com Microcenter sells this) makes a kit SMC2620W that includes an Access Point that hooks to the eternet hub, and a notebooke pcmcia PC wireless card. It took all of 5 minutes to load drivers and I am surfing with the notebook in the dining room while Honey is in the computer room. I am amazed how easy this was and how impossible all of the other solutions were. The other companies have no clue. SilverCat,I run a 3com airconnect for my laptops and my wifes DELL desktop. The desktop is in a room I couldn't run a cat5 cable to. To many walls and floors to run through. It was a major pain finding a vendor that supported PCI cards. Pricey solution, ran over $1000 but worth it. Integrated nicely into my linksys hubs. ------------------ Jeff Black 2K ------ Carlini Transmission Cooler Cover Mopar mud flaps (front/back) Chrome Shimmers Mac Motorsports Intake Much more on the way....
