John Hinkley, the Manager of Conner Avenue Assembly Plant, home of Prowler and Viper, is retiring at the end of this month. CJ received a call from Sylvia Holbert inviting any owners that are in the area and interested to attend his going away luncheon. It is Wednesday, February 28th at 1:00 at the Plant. They are asking those planning to attend to contribute $10 toward a gift and lunch. I'll try to field questions and track those planning to attend if you e-mail me at robertlongstreth@home.com or rpl5@daimlerchrysler.com. They will need to know how many are interested in advance. If you've been to the Plant and met John, you already know that he's a very interesting car enthusiast. He's worked for Roger Penske on the Corvette Gran Sport project and built more that one car himself including a Gran Sport Corvette kit car which made the magazines. Please post a farewell comment to John on this thread and CJ will present it to him, on behalf of the Prowler Owners Association, at the luncheon. John, I have had the opportunity to visit the plant 2 times. It is a wonderful place to visit. All the people that work in the plant have done everything they could to please the Prowler owners during the visits. I wish you a HAPPY retirement from the daily duties as Plant Manager but hope the time spent is still with some of the coolest cars on earth. Thank you for your Hard Work and Committment to the Viper & Prowler projects. Larry Mayes ------------------ |

John: Met you during CAAP I, and although there was the excitement of the Prowler and Viper all around us, we shared a very enthusiastic conversation over your past involvement with Corvette. Conner Avenue will not be the same with your absence ... good luck and enjoy retirement, so few people really get the opportunity to do so! Ray Szull ------------------ |

The CAAP is a class act through and through. It's not very often that you meet a group of people who enjoy their jobs so much. That type of culture starts at the top. You will be missed. Best Regards and enjoy retirement! ------------------

John - I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you in person but have visited your plant twice. VERY IMPRESSIVE. The hospitality you show throughout is amazing. Strangely enough we did talk one day. I tried to contact the plant but only had a fax number. So I guessed at the lowest similar telephone number which in most businesses is the receptionist. John - you answered the phone. You bet I was surprised !! Enjoy your retirement. (PS. Thanks for your assistance, you directed me the proper people) ------------------ TonyG@ProwlerOnline.com |

John, on the occasion of your retirement and in the years to come, I hope you realize the enjoyment you've made to the Viper and Prowler owners around the world. As Plant Manager, you made these fine automobiles the quality product that led to their success and our pleasure. Thank You, Gil, 2000 Yellow Prowler |

John, I've not had the pleasure of going to see the plant yet, but I cannot begin to express my appreciation for all the obvious hard work you've put in to make the Prowler the truly great one of a kind American car it is today. There has never been anything like it, and I doubt there ever will be anything to replace it. ------------------ |

John, I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoy my car. You and your team there have done a fantastic job on the car of my dreams. You must be a very lucky and talented individual to be in charge of Conner Ave. I was lucky enough to visit there and was extremely impressed. Best wishes for your retirement. John, congrats on your retirement! I regret never having the chance to meet you and tour the plant. Your love affair with classics is obvious...and just a thought, you might consider a Prowler as a retirement present! You'll be the life of the shuffleboard party. Thanks for leaving an indelible mark on automobilia. ------------------ |
