Dale Earnhardt died today in accident at Daytona.

Just two weeks ago at the Rolex 24 hour race in Daytona, Dale Earnhardt & Dale Jr. were at a dinner with us on Friday night. Dale Sr. was very congenial & just like another guy. He signed autographs & posed for pics & appeared to enjoy just chatting with us. Very sorry...

A way bad thing. I wonder how much was due to his helmet choice, but a hit at 180 would be hard to survive. Last lap----poor dude!

It is hard to find the words to describe my feelings for this great loss. Not one of my favorite drivers but he was always respected by me. I just heard the news minutes ago and came directly to our board with my friends to share this somber moment in racing history.

I knew something was way wrong when they interviewed Kenny Schrader, it looked like he seen a ghost.

Safety is always the most important, Nascar needs to take a look, a hard look to make things a lot safer, an air bag system, full face being mandatory, collapsible steering column, something.

I am sure Mike Waltrip still feels like he has never won a race and with him and the racing world it is one of the saddest days in racing history.

He will be always loved and respected. Peace and love to his family.

I dont follow NASCAR racing nor know may of the drivers. I did like the image of D.E. Sr. He seemed to carry himself very well on and off the race track. His race wins speak for themselves. I'm sorry for his loss, his family's loss, the fan's loss and the sport's loss.

THESE ARE NOT MY THOUGHTS-This was one of the things I saw on another site-how sick is this dude?:

Hopefully he suffered!
F_EARNHARDT
NASCAR was correct in allowing the old geezer to wear that silly helmet, and allowing his no-talent son to "follow" in his fathers footsteps. Hopefully those queer goggles were impacted and driven directly into his cranium, causing
severe pain before his limbic system shut down his pain receptors. If only his son had been there to actually witness the his fathers pain. Oh well, maybe FOX could replay in slow motion the in-car camera shots of Earnhardt's
demise. That would be a ratings grabber! I can only hope that there was a lot of blood and moaning.

Anyone with Netscape can reply to this dude if you want to even acknowlege him in the first place. After opening the front page story-go to share you memories

Butchee..only redeeming value to this jerk is that he chose not to post here. I am not a big NASCAR fan but did catch the last dozen laps and was mesmorized..that many cars bunched up on the lead lap..Dale Inc with the 1st 3 cars and the patron blocking for his guy and his son! Dale Waltrip thrilled in the booth cheering for his baby brother..for several minutes after the checkered flag was the most spectacular finish in sport in recent memory. Unfortunatly the reality of the crash overshadowed the thrilling end. Interesting I thought that Dale Waltrip seemed to understand how severe the crash was as soon as it happened! What a terrible moment for Sterling...1 glance into #3 car and he seemed to understand instantly what had happened.

I very much enjoyed watching Dale E. SR race......it is a sad day for his family and all his race fans......I wish his family and friends the strenght in knowing, that he would all have wanted them to know He died doing what he truely loved...

Because Dodge has not been in Nascar for so long, I have not really cared who won. But the 2 that I did enjoy are both gone. Davey Allison and now Dale SR.

As for Waltrip's as a race announcer, I think he talks too much. I hope we don't have to listen to that every weekend

From what I saw, Sterling really had nothing to do with the wreck other than Dale dropping down on him and hitting him, this caused the wreck, Dale trying to block after Sterling was already past the rear of the Black #3.

To the jerk that wished the pain to him in his last moments of life.....I would not wish that on Rusty Wallace....and my favorite position for him is UPSIDEDOWN

A very sad day to say the least Laddie. I had the fortunate chance to meet him 1 time and he was just as you said, one of the guys. Never a bad word in front of several obnoxious people there only for profit of a signature and he handled them with grace. As Gary said, not necessarily one of the favored among the racers, but definitely RESPECTED. A genuine true heart to a passion that I believe we all enjoy. He will be missed and our prayers go out to all the family and friends who mourn the loss.

My greatest memory of Dale SR will always be how he used to toy with Ernie Irvin. Remember how they would be nose to tail, Ernie would get a run on Dale and go by him on the inside.....and before Ernie knew what was happening good ol' Black Bart came right back around him!!! And I don't think ANYONE has run as fast as Dale could/did as high up on the track!!! Never thought I'd see my son cry for a total stranger....Rest easy Dale, we will always remember you!

I have been fortunate enough to also meet Dale Earnhardt. He used to come to our Autorama shows to do autograph sessions. The racing world has not only lost a legend, but the world has lost a very fine individual.

Our sympathy and prayers are for Dale and his family.

I was never a Dale Earnhart fan, but always admired his skill. I hope he and Neal Bonnett are back together. I heard that there was a place on Dale's farm where he and Neal would hunt and fish but after Neal was killed Dale could never go back to. I cannot believe believe what that other individual (they are not a person) posted. It is really scary that are individuals like this person living among us. It's scary to think what they might be capable of.
