I am looking for a good website service to start a homepage, etc w/ prowler pics, etc.. I ran across this deal :
For $14.95 setup, then $14.95 /month you get
Free Domain Registration (yourname.com)
100 MB Disk Space
15 GB Monthly Transfer
10 Email Accounts
Anyone@ Email Service
Unlimited Email Forwarding
MS FrontPageŽ Extensions
Web Console

Does this look like a good deal? Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks,
Glenn

Who is it with? (E-mail me if you like) I am with Netnations.com, have been with red-viper-gts.net and viperclubofamerica.net for some time now. LMK and I'd like to cruise to their site for more info so I can make an informed comment one way or the other.

The service is Yahoo! Website Services and here is the link.

Yes, you maintain it yourself. It looks like such a good deal there must be some downside. The only one I could find it no scripts provided, and no CGI support.

Let me know what you guys think. I ready to pull the trigger soon.

No this is not a killer deal!

BAD, BAD, BAD!!!

Please go to my site and look below to the banner that is running and telling you about the ISP I have there! Click on it and sign up.

You will support my site financially this way and you get a high competive price.

$13.95 a month!
200MB Disk space
6GB Monthly traffic1
~600,000 hits/month
much more!

But, I would ask you use my banner link so I can get credit for it.

Later...

I'm with Dan. You can do much better than the place you found...Just like everything else, it boils down to research!! I'll not plug any site, or service, but you could really benefit by a detailed look into what services are provided. Sure, you may not need all the bells and whistles...but why pay for the bells when you can have them both for the same price. No cgi-bin really limits you. And the site Dan pointed you to....you'll get cgi-bin, mSQL (or even MySQL on Platinum), just more room for growth! Also, there is NO HURRY. Good luck!

Thanks,
I looked at the site. It looks fairly similar. Being a novice at this stuff, it appears like the diff between the two services are:

1. Monthly transfer - 15 Gb vs 6GB. Not sure, but I think more is better. How does this affect my site? slower access?
2. Disk space - 100MB vs 200Mb. I know that more is better here, but the details are in the extra space beyond the package.... (extra $5 / month for ea 50MB, vs. $5/mo for ea 5MB).
3. Domain registration. I tloks like 1 site will handle the domain free, and the other will 'assist' in the domain registration (not free).
4. cgi-bin - how does the lack of cgi-bin limit me? Does this mean that I won't be able to run some commonly available scripts? It sounds like a desireable feature. but what scripts are commonly used (besides hit counters)

I will take your advice, and continue my research, I am really more interested in content creating than the technical nuances of webhosting.
Thanks again for your help..

Glenn
