AKAIK it is the same as the Sloan Kwik Load...but I'm not going to get into any legal stuff...that is for THEM!! Samr idea anyway. It appears the Texas has a little different configuration at the back...but the loading technique is the same...I think!! I have a Sloan: ------------------ |

Gary- This is the same type trailer that David uses, except no nose piece. Tows GREAT! His has a different ramp setup. The ramps are enclosed inside with small flap gates. Hope this helps. ------------------ |

One of these days I have to get the Viper out, so I'll take some sequential pictures as I do it. I can load my car alone, drive on, drive off. How it works? Well, after disconnecting the load-levelers, and pulling the appropriate pins...and I remove the rear straps (with parking brake set), I set the parking brake on the trailer (located just forward of the wheels on the driver side). Then I get in the truck, use the trailer brake to "help" the parking brake on the trailer, and I back the whole thing up. Now, look at the picture and imagine the wheels on the trailer DON'T MOVE. That's why the Texas trailer is called a "roll-away"...the whole bed rolls back on wheels underneath, till it gets to a point it starts to tilt. Once the bed hits the stops, I place a couple carefully constructed 2x6's in just the right spot, then I get in and move the car forward just enough to put some slack in the front straps. Once they are removed I can roll the car off. I don't adjust the straps since I have them right where I need them for proper position. The 2x6's give me just that little added comfort of knowing the front won't scrape. Loading is just as easy, but I usually wait to strap it down till I've pulled forward and the bed id level. I use the handy-dandy, all-purpose 2x6's as blocks while I set the straps. I believe the trailer alone is around $3300, and the nose cover is an option at about $400, but I'll be darned if I can remember exact numbers. I had one of these when I bought the car, and gave it up to a friend as payment for over a year of storage and what-not. So I bought this brand new to move coast to coast. I would rather DRIVE the car, mind you, but I just shelled out some of my license plate fund for a tranny in the RAM (shrug). I WILL be driving with plates by April!!! Hope this helps. I'll have pictures soon as I do have to go visit the car in storage to show it some nice new SHIMMERS!!!! ------------------ |

Bob wants to know if anyone has a good source on a front blast shield for an open trailer. Any ideas or info would be appreciated. ------------------ |

I was just there to visit the snake but the storage place was all closed up. Solid ice in the compound...no plow..nothing! I was looking forward to pictures of the new Viper SHIMMERS! Well, another storm on its way in now....maybe in a couple days! From memory, you have to back the entire rig up between 4 and 5 feet...closer to 4 than 5. It does require enough room to have the rig straight, but I've never found that a problem. Two in-deck toolboxes in front...locking. And it has two lights in the deck...looks COOL at night! ------------------ |

VM, I am going with the Sloan, they are 70 miles from me and gave me a fair deal. The Texas roll back guy out here told me one thing and the invoice was something different. The Sloan has: torsion axles, smoother ride I will save 2 grand going with the Sloan. thanks
