Dec 2011 was a great holiday with the visit to performance innovations in Nc. Santa's sleigh delivered a sweet 6.1 hemi and it went into the Prowler for the first time. It's going to be a cold winter up north but looking foward to a hot and fun summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXVSLd7ykMc This message has been edited by treyb on 01-18-2012 at 05:59 AM |

Still working the exhaust and headers. Decided to get the headers jet coated by jethot. The first 6.1 had the whole system done. They coat inside and out looks nice and Can reduce surface temps up to 50% Should help keep things cooler in the engine bay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkmNF3WuTyY It's still a bit early but The other thing I started thinking about is badging. Im not looking to have a sleeper car but want to keep it classy With going through the hood on the black shaker want to call out the hemi. Ordered these 370 hemi custom ones. On the rear looking to go with the Srt-8 tail badge. Not sure where. Maybe near the tail light in the middle or towards the bottom of the trunk lid. Ordered 2 maybe will put one inside I also have a set of these 6.1 hemi badges that I'm thinking will do it stacked Lastly maybe a small Srt grill badge on the new grill. Not sure if this will look good kind of up to the right on the new grill. Still have a long ways to go before these go on but planning early. What do you think? I like the 6.1 HEMI emblem. Love the grille. Your going to need some sticky or wider tires. I have 22 x 12 on the rear (non run flats). Helped a lot when I hit the nitrous. |

IMO, Go old school: the Danko 370 HEMI badge on the shaker (you could go with the orange "HEMI") Maybe chrome "SRT" in the grill Forget the rest - too busy (Get in touch with Billet Technology for their billet aluminum valve covers and coil pack covers) Below are two pics of what Billet Tech can do to improve the motor's appearance: This message has been edited by Terry on 01-28-2012 at 09:27 PM |

Trey, the shaker badge will look good. SRT on rear my suggestion would be under the trunk to the right of plate, but would use packing tape to tape on different places until it is JUST RIGHT, the right place may be on the deck lid near the bottom. Check out the SRT cars and see where the factory put them, make it look like they did it. on the side panels IMO, might be too much, you will already have it on the hood Spend the money and coat the headers (easy for me to say, it's your money) I think you will be glad you did. ------------------ |

Thanks all for the feedback. I ordered all of the emblems. When shes done and I go down will try them out and see what looks best along with testing. I'm also going to pick up a gopro camera for great onboard videos and track days. Randy as soon as I smoke the current tires I may just get those big ones you mentioned. With the added power Im sure the rears will go down much faster. Terry I really like the Billet items you sent. They are pretty expensive and if we get that shaker working it will cover up alot of the engine space. As of right now I'm looking to follow the same direction of the first 6.1 below but going prowler red vs the yellow shown below Here is a video of the AFR shaker in action on a Challenger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC9rsuwY6wc This message has been edited by treyb on 01-29-2012 at 01:25 PM |

Like the shaker Idea, but think the Challenger one will be too big, the Dakota shaker would be better size wise

If it can be done I sure Brendan and the crew at performance can make it happen. Will start with the base shaker that is the best out there for the hemi, fully integrated and with built in duct work and filter to save space. Nip, tuck, custom work, then building up the hood and a good number of man hours it just may become a realty. Still a while to go before the magic happens, the shaker is the tail end of the build. Takes a long time to order as it is custom made also by Afr, placed mine in the end of dec to get the parts lined up. This message has been edited by treyb on 01-29-2012 at 08:26 PM |

Been nice weather 40's up north this winter. I think Still having some old school muscle in the garage keeps me patient during the long build process when it's nice out. The prowler will be 6 months or so the Camaro has a nice 23 year Transformation story. Finishing it was last years project. Inspired me to do the prowler. Shot and edited this whole video on the iPhone4s, last week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQkrfKWvmCA Reunion in the spring This message has been edited by treyb on 02-03-2012 at 08:49 PM |

Dang Trey, I can't amigine having that Prowler and not bringing it tpo the biggest Prowler event ever. Would really like to see the finished product. One tip from my own experiance, Be really sure the engine crank, drive shaft and transaxel are perfectly aligned. Mine wasn'r and it caused excessive wear on the carrier bearing on the front of the trans. Had to replace. $ 300.00 after I took it out and put it back in myself. Heminut |

Thanks Roy your 5.7 is sweet. When the transaxle went back in It was measured and calibrated to the mm. The tolerance was even better than factory but your right if it's not tight all around can spell trouble. It would be nice take it to Vegas So let see maybe I will start to take up a collection for the $3,000 extra it will take just to ship it over and back. It's a bit much coming off a build and rather take the time do bunch of additional testing in The NC area before bringing it back up north. Probally will be around this time that I hope the car will be finishing up. The best for Vegas could be me flying in but not sure yet. One more build add. Just ordered a set of lambo doors from vertical doors to be installed based on a few reco's from the site. I think this maybe the last extra mod. Looks pretty cool and still can get out without going up. Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e68qYLhghN4 This message has been edited by treyb on 02-12-2012 at 06:48 PM |

Tre, I am interested the mods that you mentioned for the transmission. Any info would be great. Are you planning to do a dyno pull to see just how many horses make to the tires. Also was there any thoughts of doing away with the stock rearend and going the howler route, with standard tranny and conventional rear end or some other independent suspension rear drive? |

Yes to all the above. If you want to get into details please message me and we can chat. Better yet Brendan at the shop can help, his shop at heart are performance Trans specialists. So on mine 6.1 hemi conversation, will use existing tranny but will be upgraded. Upgraded torque convertor, drive shaft shortened, custom engine mounts, as well as connecting it to the shaft as shown in earlier posts. Other backend stuff is being done but technical. It's going to be a beast but the prowlers set up is what it is. Before With gears prowler stock is fast off the line I have videos of me pulling srt-8 in early parts of a 1/8 mile so if I drop a 6.1 in a 2800lb car it's gonna take most cars out and torque is king. So a stock v6 prowler V6 is rated at 253 hp @ 6400 rpm and 255 lb-ft of torque @ 3950 rpm. Also doing a ton of intake mods. A stock prowler may do 170 hp to wheels.'I got 196hp dyno with headers, gears intake etc. You can do the math if you keep the same ratio but I think the details speak for itself. I will have massive Power in every band and gear and its still a stock high performance engine for daily driving. Hope that helps. Here goes those prowler vs srt-8 video. Again. Prowler vs charger http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cuGZMrckAI Now just imagine with the hemi. still more time to go Is it worth it? in my mind mind yes. I love the car and rather than trade it in why not keep it forever with the power to match most modern cars on the street. It will blow that howler away that used much lower output hemi truck engine at the time. Hope that helps |

Hey Trey! I agree with your philosophy totally. After all of the rides I've had in my life, there is really only one that really counts. The Prowler. I went through the same thought process when I decided to go with the 5.0. Yup, it cost me some bucks, but it was worth every cent. I had to make the decision to invest the money to make it unique power wise. I tried to look at other cars to replace my Cat such as Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs, and on and on and on. I tried to get excited about them. Sat in them. Test drove them. Walked around them. But, in the final analysis, none of them made my pulse jump. I decided on the 5.0L conversion, and I have never regretted it. Every time I take it out it is a thrill - even after all these years. I will turn 140,000 miles on it this weekend. Never a doubt. Never a regret. Just keeps getting better. You have ridden in it, so you know what I'm talking about. I know exactly how you feel about it. Can't wait to see your final product. |
