Trey, you can get that metal piece off that the hood latch connects to with a thin scraper and a little persuasion. I had that and the latch chrome a couple of years ago. Bet you are still grinning after watching the engine go in. |

A few parts updates recently order and will be installed later on as part of the build. Brakes I plan on starting to do some full track experience days this summer with regional riding groups and approved as long as I have a hard top. To help with improved braking decided to upgrade the front rotors and breaks pads all around as part of the build. Then will be going with EBC red stuff brakes. Fully ceramic low dust, and will go all around. In searching POA there is Very limited options for back rotors. I have seen guys on the site sending there stock ones to be drilled in the past. Like below We will see but this is more for the tail end of the build. Still have a while to go |

Shaker update When I first called perf innovations noticed the first one they did had a hood scoop on it. The owner had it on prior to the build and in the end it helped to allow the stock hood to clear the raised throttle body of the 6.1. Liked concept but not sure of scoop look and ideally wanted it to be functional. So started Looking around to see how we could possibly build the first full blown functional shaker prowler hood. After exploring, all of them They build the only fully functional and integrated shaker.
Inside shot. The overall design is for a challenger and will require some custom fabrication, probably some cutting and resizing to make it work if at all for a prowler but has all of the right things to start with. No guarantees on this idea But with risk comes potential reward and with a 4 week lead time decided to place the order now so we can have it when the time is right which is still a few months out in the build. Will be real cool if it can become a reality. Here is the look that I really like. Here a link to an full install in a challenger. Really cool design will need to be a bit different to be in the Prolwer. Here is some videos of the shaker installed in a challenger and pulling air. We will see in the coming months |

Having had the first attempt at a "functional" shaker on my 2005 Magnum and looking at my Prowler hood, it looks like a relatively easy modification with enough hood space to look good. (but cutting the aluminum hood is no picnic) |

1/13/12 update As most of us know, the Prowler is a low production car so not as many high performance bolt in options exsist like do for a Mustang or Camaro. What I'm starting to realize is when you look to do somthing radical like putting a Srt-8 hemi engine in a car that had a v6, pretty much everything ends up being a custom one off job. This is what makes the project complex, a ton work, alot of man hours and requires are really skilled builder to make it all come together. So let's take the headers and exhaust system . Most cars you can go online and order a high performance set. But where do you find headers for a 6.1 hemi engine that will work and fit in a Prowler? It doesn't exsist so with like 30 hours plus of hand work and welding the team at performance innovations started with alot of metal And transformed the first part into high perfomance hand built custom work in progress headers like this. So anyone can buy a crate 6.1 engine but how do your properly secure it I continue to be impressed with the teams craftmenship. This message has been edited by treyb on 01-13-2012 at 05:03 PM |

Trey, thanks for sharing the documentation on the build. I only hope they are blueprinting what they have done just in case someone else decides to do the same Larry |

Your right the good thing is this is the second full 6.1 to go through the shop. They do have the game plan laid out and of course with the learnings from each one, things even get better to take it to the next level. This message has been edited by treyb on 01-14-2012 at 08:41 AM |

Thanks Jordon just trying to keep up with your supercharged 5.0. Vegas would be nice but its really far and that 3k to ship and expenses is a bit much coming out of a full build. You can be sure that it will be in tons of car shows and race tracks in the north east starting this summer. It Maybe a featured car at this years Chrysler nationals in Carlisle, PA in July. Still have a ways to go in the build but getting excited already about the summer's possibilities. |

Wouldn't say piece of cake, as you can see it does take time. If you are pretty serious and interested in this build I would give Brendan a call early on. Why since he is already in a build it maybe more cost and time effective for who ever maybe number 3 to tie in some of the upfront parts a head of time. Actually he is also preparing 6.1 core components for another international client. They are also trans specialist and provided key core upgrade compenents for other folks hemi builds. All I can say going in is that you have to love the car alot , plan to keep it along time and plan financially. You have to have a true passion for the project be willing to be patient, take risks and the love the potiential outcome in order to make it worth while for both you and the builder. If you talk with any prowler owner or builder that has done a Major build like a Prowler pro 5.0 v6, westech stroker, twin turbos, hemi engine swap, or even the early supercharger guys, There is a kind of unique theme and passion you hear from there voice when they talk about the car, the process and its kind of a universal and priceless decision that they made.I think I must of talked to at least 10-15 or more people before I pulled the trigger with performance innovations. Now I'm one of them and why I decided on this one not to keep it a secret and share the project with other fellow owners that may have a simular passion. Of course I would love to do the V10. I am into having a one of a kind for sure. The fact that Trey's guys have done a couple of 6.1s is a big factor. But here I am talking like it is imminent for me which it is not. But just like all the other mods I have done, I have seen what I wanted and been patient enough to do it when I could. I really want the chrome front end, which would make me pretty happy with the look of the car. Then I would think about doing the engine swap. Maybe by that time someone(JIM) would have done the V10 and it will already figured out. HELLKAT needs something to do now that the body is so BADDA$$. ------------------ |

Repost of first engine install video. youtube verison- they changed the audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXVSLd7ykMc pictures of the original oil pan from first install No worries Brendan worked his magic wonders again and was able to fabricate the existing pan, still insuring plenty of space for the oil, pump and depth to recirculate. Great custom work,While still maximizing the core components and no worries for clearance. Presure tested No leaks and works well. They also finished up the custom made high flow headers. nice job on the oil pan. I am surprised more people don't use the dry sump oil system like old aircraft use especially where there are clearance problems. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-efficiency/fuel-consumption/question331.htm A lot of people don't know about it I guess. |
