Maisto received permission from DaimlerChrysler to make a run of never before released Deep Candy Red cars for 2006 for POA. This was the last production color. They were given the paint code to match. The challenge to POA is to be able to place a minimum order for 209 cases (150,000 cars). They raised their price to cover their increased material and shipping costs. Additionally, US Postal prices increased. The net effect of Maisto's 3 cent increase per car and postage is a delivered case price of $57, up $2 from 2005. The increase is less than the costs increased, but I think that know how to save the difference having done this once before. Each case contains 72 cars on individual bubble cards. The $57 per case includes shipping in the continental United States. Additional shipping may apply to Canada, Hawaii or the rest of the world. I accept PayPal and personal check. Payment will not be requested until Maisto advises that the cars have been produced and are in transit. Expected delivery, assuming that I commit to the order by mid-April, would be late June or early July. I need an preliminary idea of POA members'level of interest for possibly an exclusive color. The question is, can we meet their minimum? Here's a running list of those that would like to participate as of 4/6 - (209 cases): BradleyG - 3 cases I've audited all of my records as of April 2nd and we stand at 192 cases committed. I will accept requests against the final 17 cases, cutting our order off at the 209 case minimum. The order will be placed next week so if there's any last minute hold outs, this is most likely your last chance. Mike approved our request to have the blister pack cards carry the following: "Exclusively for the Prowler Owners Association" and below this "www.prowleronline.com". Just great ... I will 'trade' one case of the recently run "blue" ones I have for a case of these Candy Red ones if that can work out ... but thought this was not going to happen again, as to why I bought 2 cases before <sigh>. |

WOW! We have requests for (28) cases already! Remember, these won't be delivered until late June or July. Payment won't be requested until early June at the earliest. Interesting to see that those that spoke up early last year are again the first to weighed in. Forecasting what you'd be interested in purchasing will allow me to judge if this is even doable. Let me answer a couple of questions or concerns. Karesel, there was never a run of orange Maisto 1:64 scale that I'm aware of. I've had or seen purple, black, yellow and dark blue. Ray, I'm to blame of "never doing it again." Maisto was really difficult to deal with last year. They made a major error on the original order (shipping 1,000 versus the 10,000 ordered) and had to rush the last 9,000 cars. Plus they were always much latter than they advised regarding each shipment. I feel that they are trying to make up for the past problems. |
