Red Prowler Trailer 1999 $4800 O.B.O
Purchased along with a Prowler in 1999. Vehicle was sold in 2000, but purchaser did not want trailer. Has never been used/titled and original MSO cannot be located. Will need to be titled as a "homemade" trailer. Carpet needs to be reglued to the sides and trunk hatch struts need replaced. Thanks

Dog,,,,why can't the original selling dealer and/or Chrysler Corp, provide you with a copy of the original MSO title (duplicate),,,and then you can apply for a state issued title before selling the unit?

If not registering the trailer for use, the title applications 'only' are usually quite cheap...

Yes, the trailer is located in Canon City, Colorado, approximately 1 hour Southwest of Colorado Springs. I tried to get a new MSO from the selling dealer and they said that they would not be able to get another. Have not tried to contact the manufacturer. I discussed this with the Motor Vehicle department and they said that I would need to do a VIN search and then have a new VIN assigned as a "homemade trailer". Didn't think this made much sense to pay all the fees to do this since I am trying to sell the trailer and a buyer would have to re-title it and do a VIN inspection if it is going out of state. I will make a call to AJAX to see about getting a new MSO.

Thanks for your comments.

Just called AJAX and they confirmed that they would not be able to issue a new MSO, due to the fact that these actually sold by Chrysler and not AJAX. So looks like the route I explained earlier is the best bet. Ajax also recommended Broadway Title Company, but they want $500 dollars.

I went through this with my trailer. I used the "Bill of Sale" and went to my motor vehicle administration (MD)and applied for a new title. There never was a title, as far as I know, for the trailers. Mine is now registered with a serial number and title. RPL made metal tags for the trailers with the serial number and not sure if he will still accomodate you once you get a new serial number.

I went through the same thing here in Texas when I purchased my vehicle and trailer .The previous owner never registered the trailer nor did he ever use it .He didn't have the original paperwork either .So all I had was the bill of sale that the previous owner gave me when I purchased it from him .When I went to change the paperwork over into my name I was basically told the same thing .That the previous owner would have to title out the trailer and then I would have to retitle the trailer into my name ,it didn't make sense .I was told to say it was a homemade trailer but then I would have to take it by auto theft division so they could check the vin # to make sure it wasn't stolen . So at that point I just registered my car and didn't do the trailer until a week later when I went back and had another clerk assist me, I told them that this trailer was sold as an accessory item ,therefore there wasn't any title and the previous owner never used it ,at that point the head clerk allowed me to register the trailer ,I gave them the info that is listed on the trailer tongue, vin & weight, etc. They asked me how much it was worth, I said not sure but i think it was 500.00 wink wink ( played the dumb blonde )... so I only paid taxes on 500.00 ( I told a small white lie so shoot me )anyway ,it worked, and now I have my trailer registered. So perhaps you might let them know it was sold as an accessory item ( purchased through the parts department ) you might be able to skip the step of having to get another vin # ... Good Luck

You didn't tell a small white lie, it was simply an omission of a zero, maybe an oversight or an "honest mistake".

I had that phenomenon occur when registering my Kat. It was more than seven years old so there was no need for a bill of sale. It is funny how much one saves on registration fees when a zero mysteriously disappears from the purchase price.....oops.

There is a Daryn Biggerstaff in the phone book, 719 276 2334, but no address. There are only 3 Prowlers that I know of in Canon City and they are all Black. I know one of the owners,Glen, real well, and the other I don't, which may be Darly. This is a small town, and have never seen a trailer here. If anyone needs me to look at the trailer, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

On the way to Vegas, we stopped for lunch at Eddie's Diner (?) right on the main drag in Canon City. A Prowler owner came up and was talking to Sandy but I was talking to someone else and didn't know it at the time.
He was an older guy, probably older than me and thin. Very nice guy and I don't recall what color Prowler he said he had.

ed....Actually that would have been Big Daddy's Diner at 5th and Royal Gorge (Highway 50), good food and a great family...Reish. The accompanying 1999 Red Prowler belonged to my late father Darryl. I sold it for him in 2000 and figured it would look silly behind my VW Van, but the thought did cross my mind.

Michael, you are more than welcome to come take a look and tell these guys (gals) what you think. Thanks!

It might have been Mr. Ed's diner. It had a huge overhang on the right side, where one of the doors were located, on the parking lot side. It was on the right side of the highway as we headed west on 50, it was after the parallel access road ended by a few blocks.
We actually ate in the same place about 30 years ago.
There was a billboard for it just as we entered town and the other guys said let's go there.

Always ready to meet a fellow prowler owner, as there are so many in Canon. Have you met Glen, he is the other owner here in town. Plan a get together, Michael
