Let me know if you figure out where the part of the harness with a connector on it, just sitting under the carpet goes. I think I asked this a few years ago, and no one knew.

KJ, there are 2 connectors on the ends of the new Hitch Harness that Plug-n-Play into the existing factory Tail Light Harness in the Trunk under the carpet.
You will have to drill a hole in the trunk floor (shown where and how in the Hitch Harness instructions) to drop the connector end to the Trailer out, so you can plug it in to the Trailer.
There is a provided Grommet as part of the Hitch Harness that seals the hole you have to drill.
Some dont drill the hole, just leave the Harness inside the Trunk, then lay it out over the Trunklid Weatherstrip then shut the Trunk to secure it, when actually towing the Trailer.
I drilled the hole since I run a hardtop and would have to remove it everytime I towed, to get access to the harness in the Trunk.
Everything looks Factory.

OH, I misunderstood the post. I thought it was regarding the harness in the trailer.
For the Car, I just got a long 4 wire harness and spliced it to the tail light wires, and when I need it, I run it through the rubber cover used for access to the trans. fluid dip stick. Made a little cut out on the side of the rubber so the harness is not forced against the car, but still seals with or without harness installed. When not in use, it just sit's under the carpet.
