Laddie's Cruisin' the Coast & 2nd Annual Prowler Drags Itinerary (updated 8/19/02)

Although Cruisin' the Coast is an open Event, everyone is welcome to cruise along with me. You may want to just do the parade on Wednesday and than do your own thing. This is really a fun event with different things that will attract and appeal to each of us differently. Don't feel obligated to follow me, just come on over and have a good time...
Here's my current plans...

Wednesday, Oct. 9th
Noon: Try to check into Casino Magic Bay St. Louis.
1-5 p.m., Gulfport Rice Pavilion - Auto Registration .
I will arrive between noon and 1:00 PM to pickup my registration package. After registration, I will begin my Poker Run stoping at a few Casinos cruising East toward Biloxi. Important - You have to turn in your Poker hand by noon on Saturday at any participating Casino.
4-6 p.m., Staging for Long Beach Kickoff Parade. Long Beach High School - I plan to arrive there around 4:00 PM. This is the lot next to the Football stadium (school lets out around 3:30 so there still a few cars in the lot). I'd like to see a large Prowler turnout here...
6:30-7:30 p.m. Kickoff Cruise to Jeff Davis Ave. to Long Beach Harbor and Yacht Club for the party. Burnout's are encouraged and all you will hear is "Lightem Up"... Lots of water will be thrown along the parade route through downtown Long Beach...
6:30 - 9:30 PM Rockin' the Dock CTC Participants Kickoff Party, (bands TBA) at Long Beach Harbor (outside Long Beach Yacht Club). Eventually, we'll head back to Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis...

FYI: Main Street Biloxi Block Party 8:00 am to noon. Cruisin' the Coast Schedule: http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/Wednesday.shtml

Thursday, Oct. 10th
9:00 am - I'll leave the Casino Magic Bay St. Louis parking lot with 1st stop at Grand Oasis in Gulfport (park in front of Hotel) to Pick up any cruisers.
10:30 am - Leave Grand Oasis in Gulfport and cruise to all the CTC locations heading east (GPT, Mall, DIB and OS)... First stop will be Gulfport Rice Pavilion (for anyone needing to pick up CTC registration package or Registering), than onto the Mall CTC site, than the Vendor Auto Swap Meet area at the MS Coast Coliseum, than DIB, OS and Casinos to complete my Poker Run hand. If time permits, I may make it back to the BSL site, otherwise I'll do BSL on Saturday (in past years, this has been our favorite site).

5-6 p.m., Staging at Edgewater Mall (west side) for Beau Rivage Casino Official Thursday Night Event.
6-7 p.m., Cruise to Beau Rivage Casino.
7-9 p.m., Events at Beau Rivage TBA. Dennis Gage (My Classic Car) will be signing autographs and is filming a new segment for his show. Than back to Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis.

FYI: 9:00 a.m. Cruisin' Time Starts All Cruisin' locations in Bay St. Louis (BSL), Gulfport (GPT), Edgewater Mall (Mall), Ocean Springs (OS) and D'Iberville (DIB). Cruisin' the Coast Schedule: http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/Thursday.shtml

Friday, Oct. 11th
7:00 AM - Leave Casino Magic Bay St. Louis parking lot for No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA. I'm leaving early to ensure everything is ready for the 2nd Annual Prowler Drags. . However, everyone else could leave at 8:30 am (more reasonable time or later). It's 130 miles to NPR from Bay St. Louis. So, Drive should take little over two hours.
11:00 am NPR Track opens. Tech Cars and line up for Time Trials. $10 to enter track. This is another place I'd like to see large Prowler turnout... http://www.noproblemraceway.com/
Noon. - Prowler Time Trials Begin and working on a Jambalaya Lunch for all Prowlin' folks...
3:00 PM - 1st round of Prowler Bracket Racing Begins.
5:00 PM - Possible departure for Group heading back to Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis.
6:00 PM - Time Trials Begin for NPR regular scheduled Friday Bracket Racing.
Checkin to Holiday Inn in Gonzales, LA for Friday night. Maybe, the group of us staying there can have a dinner at Capn Andersen restaurant in hotel.

FYI: All the Cruisin' activities along the coast continue, check the Cruisin' the Coast schedule. 11 a.m., 1 p.m. & 3 p.m. Cruisin' Venue Entertainment (bands TBA) All Cruisin' sites (BSL, GPT, Mall, DIB and OS). 7 & 9 p.m., Percy Sledge in Casino Magic Bay St. Louis Entertainment Complex (if I was going back to Bay St. Louis I would take in 9:00 PM show). 2nd Annual Prowler Drags ... Http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000452.html

Please email me if you have any questions or post under the Events section.

Cruisin the Coast 2002 begins on Wednesday, Oct 9th and runs through Sunday, Oct. 13th. This is one terrific time with lots of entertainment, classic cars, auction, casino activities, vendors, Poker Run, $15,000 Cash drawing ($500 each), Drag Racing & just having a good time. Last year there were over 4,000 registered cars (over 20 Prowlers). Cruisin the Coast (CTC) covers the 25 miles of beach front roads along the Mississippi Gulf Coast between Biloxi & Bay St. Louis. There are five Cruise-in spots with Stages set up for the Free entertainment on Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Your CTC registration Fee gives you the chance to win a portion of the $15,000 Cash Drawing, Poker Run participation & access to restricted parking areas at all entertainment sites. In addition, the 15 or so Casinos offer free entertainment and some for a fee during this weekend. However, you can still attend CTC without registering, but you won't be able to access the parking or a chance to win the Cash drawings. CTC registration Fee is $40 prior to Aug. 15th. After Aug. 15th & on-site is $55. Here's the CTC web site. Or you can Call 1-888-808-1188 for auto registration.
http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/

This is not structured or Prowler only event. You're free to follow me or do your own thing. This is a free wheeling Cruise with lots of activities and I'm sure you'll find something to your liking (It's kinda like making your own Banna Split). You can tailor your stay to select, participate and change your plans (even at last minute) to meet your desires....

In addition, I've put plans together to host the 2nd Annual Prowler Speed or Power Festival during Cruisin the Coast. See the other topic 2nd Annual Prowler Speed Weekend. Maybe we could have a large Prowler Gathering at the Bay St. Louis Casino Magic parking lot on Saturday morning and have our on parade of Prowlers along with all the other classic cars.... Lots of activities, Hotels, Casinos & things to do...

Here's an overview of the CTC schedule. Please check the CTC web site for more specific schedules as we get closer to the date.

Wednesday, Oct. 9th
Block Party, Parade & Kick-off Cruise & Registration

Anyone making this event will not regret their trip. It will be well worth it.We had I think 15 or more prowlers last year, 3 vipers, plenty PTs and thousands of awesome rods. The events are outstanding as are the performers. Laddie always puts together at least one day of a great get together for everyone. This cruise is like going back into the 50s for five great days with about 50 miles of cruising with wall to wall hotrods or all kinds. People dressed like the 50s, the cruise in stops like ARNOLDS in the movie American Graffiti. It is truly one of a kind something you don't want to miss.

Laddie - You shouldn't have any problem getting at least 10 people to fill rooms at hotel. If you get a block, please post contact info.

Thanks

The Prowler Drags Hotel is the Holiday Inn in Gonzales, LA. The room rate is $59 per night plus taxes for the dates of Oct. 10th, 11th & 12th. Call 1-800-946-5432 for reservations.

You can stay at either hotel & attend both events... Or, you can make other arrangements. Again, these Hotel rooms will be on hold until Sept. 1st. Ask for the Prowler Owner Association group rate and book the room with your Credit Card of choice. Once a month the hotels will give me the number of rooms booked...

Just had a call from Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis. They said a few people making reservations had a problem & they are trying to straighten out their system.

The Magic asked that when you call ask for:

The Prowler Owner Association Group or use Reservation # PRO1009...

Sorry for any inconvience, they said they are working to fix it...

Bob - why don't you design a seat with belts to hold you in place that fits in the trailer. Make sure you leave enough room for a cooler and we will drag you behind us at the next event.

PS - check for AP/brace going in mail today!!

Marty, I've seen the way you drive and I for one would not ride in the trailer with you behind the wheel. But I am sure I can find some gal to take over my driving dutys after the sun goes down. I think I will have to attend this one also because I have way to much fun when your around.

Bringing it up to the top...

Hotel Reservations for Cruisin the Coast & Prowler Drags - Oct 2002

I have made arrangements with two Hotels for "Cruisin The Coast" Mississippi Gulf Coast (Oct. 9th through Oct. 13th) and The Prowler Drags/Power Festival Belle Rose, LA. (Oct. 11th & 12th). I have 30 rooms blocked at each Hotel. When you call ask for the Prowler Owner Association group rate. The rooms are on hold until September 1st, 2002.

The Cruisin the Coast Hotel is Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis, MS. The rooms are in the New Tower Hotel & the rate is $129 plus taxes ($30 less than the CTC rate) for the dates of Oct. 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th. Call 1-800-562-4425 for reservations.

Laddie - I know we talked about this in Denver, but wanted to be sure I understood correctly. If we are coming for boith events, it would probably be better to book hotel room at Bay St. Louis and then just drive over to No Problem Raceway the day of the races.

Do you think we should plan on returning same evening of races or get room near there for one night?

If we choose to stay in Bay St. Louis, will there be a Kat-A-Van planned to No Problem or will you supply directions?

Thanks

We are looking forward to being there.

Marty

Marty.

My plans were for the Cruisin the Coast attendees, to kat-a-van over from Bay St. Louis to No Problem Raceway on Friday morning & caravan back that night to Bay St. Louis.

However, depending how many people are interested in the Prowler Drags, my recommendation might be to book a room in Gonzales, LA for Friday night & kat-a-van back to Bay St. Louis on Saturday morning & check back into the Casino Magic for Saturday night...Right now I have reservations at both hotels and I'm planning to stay in the Holiday Inn in Gonzales on Friday night... And, I'll lead the Kat-a-van back to Bay St. Louis on Saturday morning...

And, my plans for those staying in Gonzales, LA (for the Prowler Drags) they could Kat-a-van over to Bay St. Louis on Saturday morning & meet up with the Cruisin the Coast Prowlers at Casino Magic between 10:00 am & 11:00 am. Than return to Gonzales Saturday night or just book one night (Saturday) at the Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis.

I will have directions. In addition, I'm Planning to arrange for someone to help with the Kat-a-van from each location.

As of last week we had six people registered at the Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis & two people registered at the Holiday Inn in Gonzales, LA.

The Casino Magic is sold out for Saturday night. Now, I have 30 rooms on hold until Sept. 1st. So, if you're thinking about coming, you need to make reservations. You are free to make reservations at any hotel you wish... The MS tourist bureau has a phone number on the CTC web site to help with reservations.

Also, CTC pre registration ends on Aug. 15th...

Hey Laddie - if there are only two people registered in Gonzales and they are you/Karen and Rebecca/I; I guess that means we will have a 2 car event. At least we both will make it to the finals!

Laddie, how far apart are the two hotels? Is Casino Magic sold out totally or sold out except they still have rooms left on hold for the POA?
How big of a pain in the butt would it be to stay in Gonzalez all four nights?

Ed, Rich.

Staying in Gonzales all four nights would be a pain if you wanted to do Cruisin the Coast on other days... If you're just going for the drags, Gonzales is the best place. You could make it to Cruisin the Coast on Saturday & drive back into Gonzales for Saturday night... Gulfport to Gonzales is 140 miles or so...

There's lots of entertainment at night along the coast tied into CTC... I'm going to stay in Gonzales on Friday night to hang with those people that are just there for the Prowler Drags. And, I will lead the caravan back to Gulfport on Saturday morning... The Prowler Drags will be over by 5:00 pm... Now, some folks may decide to race again Friday night along with the Tracks normal Friday night Trophy Bracket racing...

Casino Magic is sold out on Saturday night. There are still 20 rooms available under the POA for Saturday night... I had 30 rooms on hold for Wed. through Sat. nights with checkout on Sunday...

Cruisin the Coast pre Registration cutoff is Aug. 15th...

After Aug. 15th registration is on site... Check out the CTC web site....
http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/

Again, you don't have to register for CTC to attend or cruise. The fee entitles you to a parking sticker (for preferred parking), Chance to win $15,000, & the poker run.
And, parking is a problem around the free music sites...

If I was only going on Saturday, I don't think I would register. Saturday night there will be entertainment at Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis:

The Van Dells on Lobby Stage
Elvis Extravaganza Impersonator Contest 8:00 pm Entertainment Complex

There's lots of parking at the Bay St. Louis Casino Magic location.

Laddie... more and more Florida Cats planning to attend everyday. Looks like 10 or more as of today. I just started production on the 2002 Prowler SHIMMERS dash plaques today for the participants... how many do think we will need? Also, how many 2001 do we need for those who attended last year... somehow, as this event was a last minute thing for us, I forgot to make them. Best wishes, Jay

Hi Jay.

The shimmers dash plaques are a very nice idea. Thanks.

Between CTC & 2nd Annual Prowler Drags, I'm expecting between 40 & 50 Prowlers this year. Last year, I think we had 21 or so Prowlers that I counted.. Never got to meet all the owners last year. There were 10 of us that cruised together...
