Does anyone know what is involved in changing out the ignition key and door keys for the Prowler ?

A fellow Prowler owner in Italy needs to change out his current key and needs some help... if anyone knows the process and part numbers that would be great..

Thanks,

Jim

if theres somebody around where he lives that rekeys cyclinders,he can go that route,or if not buy a lock cyclider set 3 or 4 cycls, which includes the glove box from chrysler, sorry no part numbers or availability.instead of above just replace the cyclinder needed.a good locksmith should be able to help him, call a local dealer or repair shop there in his area.somebody there should be able to rekey the one cyclinder.to match the original key.

Andria should be able to help. Hopefully she'll chime in.

Jan's answer covered the question well.

If the car needs re-keyed for a specific reason, a local automotive Locksmith should be able to do the job.

If one of the locks has failed or been damaged and needs replaced, again the Locksmith should be able to key the replacement cylinder to match the existing keys.

Automotive service within the Locksmith industry has almost become a specialty field of it's own especially since the manufacturers started including "Theft Deterrent" devices associated with the locks and keys.

I have not kept up with all the newer technology but can still do some of the simpler procedures like changing the trailer cylinder to match the ignition key for Prowler owners and some bench work. Most of my automotive related experience is with the model years up to about 1980, beyond that I have little experience with it.

Thanks for the help and advice... I will let Mario know the results and what a great help the site offers to those in need... I am not sure of the circumstances around the need to re-key, I'll post up if I find out..

best regards,

Jim
