my speaker behind the driver has a hum in it. no voice just a hum. can i turn it off or do i have to take the wire off? is that an easy job?

you need to unplug it,which means removing,what i will call that fuzzy panel covering it,or you can turn the balance to frt. only,but you will lose the lt and rt rr speakers also.you will have to remove all the plastic retainers to get the panel off,and some may break.they get brittle after all these years.

If I remember right, someone posted that (it was either the front or the rear speakers) don't have a plug and are soldered on. I can't remember whether that was for front or rear speakers. Maybe check pumpkin's page on speaker replacement.

rear speakers don't plug in as I recall
