Haha - my case was exactly that but backwards - I had the doors torn apart after replacing the speakers, so it was a good time to fix the regulators :0) |

The plastic sleeve repair for the window regulator is very thorough, but I found that if you a 3/8 inch parker pushlok hose (831-6). Slice it longitudinally then wrap around broken tube then hose clamp it. Mark all adjustments with a paint stick prior to disassembly that will assure the window will be close to being correct when you put back in place. It has been a while since I did this but if you can get access to the break through the opening it may be done without taking out of car? How to slice a hose can be found on you tube under quick tips with Stacy David. |

Using double faced, carpet tape can be a little tricky. That is basically what you use to replace golf club grips. You can use cigarette lighter fluid on the tape, which makes it very slippery, so work FAST. Once the fluid evaporates you will have very good adhesion. If it start to dry out before you get it on completely, you can just spray some more on the tape. Again, it is cigarette lighter fluid, not charcoal lighter fluid. |

Me too Quincy. My repair lasted about 6 or 7 years before it failed Then did the Tom Mills replacement. The leak from the top improved 98% with the Tom Mills fix too. |

Well, it looks like it's my turn now. The passenger's side window on my '99 stopped working correctly this morning. Window went down OK, but only went up about the 1/4 of the way until the rear portion of the glass wouldn't go up any further. I removed the door panel, and was able to "help" the window up so at least I can still drive the car for now. Figured I would do a lot of reading and YouTube videos first before deciding to go any further. One of the quick questions I had was even though I haven't removed it yet, I put a small handheld mirror inside the door and saw a small split similar to the one in one of Kraut's last pictures in this thread. As long as I get a small plastic hose to cover the split, and secure it on both sides with a clamp, will that get me back in business? Not sure I want to go the updated regulator way via Tom just yet, and was hoping on an inexpensive repair. I saw the metal repair kit repair online from that store for $59, and it looks like that would work, although many seem to have just repaired and secured any split on the regulator ribbon with just basically plastic tubing and some clamps. Appreciate and further input, although I'm guessing once I have it out of the door, it will make more sense. |

I did the cheap fix on both doors on my 99. Passenger door broke first, I fixed it and it broke again about 2 years later. When I took it out, I saw that it broke at elbow and and my clamp had come off. I then reclamped it, but added a Small piece of wire around last clamp and hole in elbow to help keep it from separating again. I then pulled drivers side and did same to it. No problems so far, that was about 6-7 years ago. I think the Prowlerstore fix or or equivalent would work great. Tom Miles fix is great also, just depends if you are ready to spend the money.
