I don't remember if this has ever been posted or not. This 49 Cadillac, completely covered with 38,295 pennies! The pennies were adhered one by one using Silicone, They added over 200 pounds to the weight, The entire project took 6 weeks. Pennies are American, and include 1817 ''big cent'', two error pennies and four 1943 steel pennies.

hat is cool!

Would be a good tribute to the Canadian penny which was abolished a couple of years ago.

200lbs of pennies would be about $300 so it's a cheap exterior treatment, if you don't count your time.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cars-Trucks-/6001/i.html?_vxp=mtr&_dmpt=US_Cars_Trucks&Model%2520Year=1963&makeval=Mini&modelval=Cooper&_nkw=Mini%20Cooper

There is currently a Mini Cooper covered in Copper (Pennies) listed on flea bay. It is a replica/tribute of the cars done for the Beatles.

I cut and pasted this from the listing:

"Penny Car made for The Beatles’ “Penny Lane”
--4,000 British pennies grouted to exterior (approximate weight: 200 pounds/91 kg)
--Woman in England placed pennies on car from coins her father collected
--Pennies range in year from 1860 to 1969"

Regarding the original cars I cut and pasted this from the ad also:

"These Penny Cars were made to commemorate and promote The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” track. Beatles lead singer Paul McCartney had two of these Morris Penny Cars commissioned for himself. One is at Cornish Goldsmiths in Cornwall, England, and the other is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in San Francisco."

I like it but wouldn't want to have to polish them to keep it shiney.
