By Bill O'Reilly

A new NBC News/"Wall Street Journal" poll says the President is ahead of Mitt Romney by six points; 49-43. Wow, how about that?

However, that poll may not be accurate. In a Rasmussen Daily Tracking poll today, taken among the likely voters, Mitt Romney leads 47-44. That is a stunning nine point difference from the "Wall Street Journal"/NBC survey. So, what is going on?

Well, first of all the NBC deal is registered voters, not likely voters. Secondly, there is an 11-point difference Democrats over Republicans in the NBC/Journal poll. It's not that they stack the deck. It's just that the random sample came out that way.

But the Journal's article today about the poll doesn't mention the Democrat advantage. Not good. By the way, the "Wall Street Journal" and Fox News are owned by the same company.

The truth is nobody knows who is ahead. The campaign is very fluid right now. What "Talking Points" does know is that many American voters have no clue as to what's going on in the country.

Last night we told you that 35 percent, 35 percent of American homes, more than 100 million people are now receiving welfare payments. Fifty years ago that number was six percent. Today, the Social Security administration tells us more workers are on disability than at any other time in the nation's history. Almost nine million collecting federal disability checks. In February of 2001, the number was five million.

So in just over 11 years disability payments have doubled. Are you telling me the work place is that much more dangerous? That the health of Americans is that much more precarious? Come on. We all know what's going on here. Our society is changing from self-reliance to "give me stuff".

Now, not every worker on disability is gaming the system. Most have legitimate health issues, we know that. And not every family receiving welfare is taking advantage of the taxpayers. But the trend is undeniable. Under President Obama and even under President Bush the younger, American society has moved toward government dependence.

We are, indeed, becoming a nanny state. That's the primary reason we have $16 trillion of debt. That's the reason why the work place is stagnant. Individual ambition is on the decline.

That's also the reason President Obama's poll numbers remain competitive even in the face of a terrible economy. Millions of Americans simply want the government to provide and the President is the provider-in-chief. By the way, the 100 million Americans receiving welfare are not likely to be supporting Mitt Romney.

And that's "The Memo."

I checked Ed's figures,,,,he's right:

BLS > Bureau of Labor Statistics

"America's transition into a welfare state continues, as May saw a new all time high number of American households, 22.3 million to be exact, enter technical poverty and collect foodstamps.

At the individual level, 46.5 million Americans lived off foodstamps, a 222,157 increase in the month, or nearly three times the number of people who found jobs in June according to the BLS.

Next month this too will be a record, as it is currently just 17,367 before the previous all time high set in December of 2011."

HOPE & CHANGE is working,,,,,for some,, who don't care to work...

The baby boomers paid their own way to retirement.
The 3rd generation Welfare babies and the illegal aliens didn't pay a cent into anything. That is the SLIGHT difference between the two.
