Peter Goertz had a stroke last Thursday and passed away this evening (Monday).
I do not have any further info at this time. I got a PM from his brother Tony.
This is horrible news. Pete was one of the nicest guys I have ever met, always having a good time, willing to help with anything. What a terrible loss.
I am really glad we got to spend two fabulous weeks with him and Judy on the trip to Las Vegas last month. We had a blast, to say the least and now to think he is gone is just unreal.
I am sure Tony will post some info in the next day or two.
RIP Peter, we will surely miss your smiling face at the Prowler events.
Our sincere condolences to Judy and Tony and the rest of their family.

That is terrible news. Judy, Tony, please accept our most sincere condolences. We have enjoyed Peter's company for as many years as we have been associated with Prowler owners. Too many trips and too many great memories to list.
Peter often was up early and late to call it a night because having a blast just took some time. Coffee black? Only for a moment. There should always be room for some Baileys at the top. Where is Peter? Never a question, just listen for the laugh.

We really wanted to make the Las Vegas trip honestly more to catch up with old friends than to seek new adventures. We felt bad about not making it, now we feel terrible for the opportunity missed to run with Peter again.

Very smart and successful business guy, great family man, good friend. Peter, we will miss you.

Peter and Judy at Hoover Dam during the Vegas event.

I met Peter several years ago and I knew him to be a nice, funny guy always cheerful. Last year I got to know him even better at the East Coast Posse Deep Creek Lake Event and I liked him allot. When I heard he was joining us on the trip to Vegas I was excited. We spent most of the time just enjoying his company and great sense of humor. When we all (Ed & Sandy) spent a night sharing a condo near Durango, CO we stayed up having an evening drink and talked about life in general. We even talked about death. He mentioned he was not scared and joyfully said "what will be...will be". He was to face what he said was minor surgery when he returned and not to worry. When I had car issues (thermostadt) he was relentess about staying by my side. When I told him to move on he stated "This is what being a Prowler friend is all about". Rest in peace my friend.

RIP Pete. We Will Miss You

Linda and I are in total and complete shock. Pete was one of those rare people who liked everyone and in turn everyone liked him. Pete was always cheerful and a pure joy to be around. We are so glad we had a chance to spend some time with him and his wife in Vegas. Pete was truly a free spirit who loved life. Why is it the good die so young? This is a huge loss.

Condolences to Judy and Tony (Pete's brother) and their entire family

The following are not my words but express my feelings.

The angels looked down from heaven one night
They searched for miles afar,
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.

They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain,
So they took you up to heaven
Forever to remain.

Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain,
You'll always be within our hearts
Until we meet again.

On the way to Vegas, we met Pete and Judy on Rt. 36 west of Indy. It was me and Sandy and Steve Clark. We got there 5 to 10 minutes late and Pete and Judy were intently reading the literature about their new cell phone, that they had just purchased. They didn't see us pull into the lot as they were looking down, reading while sitting in their car.
We pulled in and parked and I told Sandy "they don't even see us" so Sandy called them and said "we are here, where the heck are you guys". Pete was going to explain where they were when he finally looked up and saw us and his face just went into that trademark grin when he realized we were 40 feet away. That is the moment I will always think of when I think of him. He was sincerely happy to see us and loved that it was funny.
That was the start of a truly remarkable 5 day trip. I am sure glad we all travelled together and got to enjoy their company.
Thanks for posting the pictures everyone.

My funny trip story with Peter occurred at a gas station some where in Arizona. We were one of the last cars to fill up our tanks and were in a hurry. I followed him into the bathroom and he said in a loud voice "you notice there are not any urinals in here?..just stalls". I pulled on one but it was occupied and the door was locked so just moved to the next one. Little did we know we were in the women's room and Judy was the one in the stall. She never said a word until we were outside. From then on it was a standard joke not to follow Peter to the restroom. He was just a fun guy to be around.

So very Sad to hear this. Peter was smiling, friendly and the sincerest Canadian... Always a prankster at heart... It must have been 10 - 12 years ago we first met and it seems Peter & Tony always had some surprise horn or noise maker for the Prowler... Sone very fond & fun memories. My sympathy to Judy and her Family and to Tony and other members of the Goetz family.

At a Prowling Niagara Falls event they had a banquet set up at a local venue. As a group it was decided everyone would walk because it was nearby. Well it turns out that nearby was at least a half mile and probably farther. As most know Linda has Arthritis and it's most prominent in her feet. Pete noticed that Linda was starting to really struggle and in fact had to sit down. When he found out what was wrong he flagged down a cab, gave the driver a healthy tip and put us in the cab to the meal venue location. I tried and tried to reimburse Pete, but he would not take the money.

Ed,

Thanks for posting and letting us know. What a terrible loss. The only Prowler member I can remember that was able to
converse with me in Dutch. Great times with Peter and Judy at the Dreamcruises and The Smokeys.

Our prayers will be for him and our thoughts with his family who have to cope with this sudden drama.

God bless.
